Windshield Wiper Problem

So with all the rain this weekend, i finally was able to try out my windshield wipers, and I found the first problem with my truck. At the factory they wired my int. Wipers backwards! So that the longest duration is the shortest and vice versa. It is such a minor problem, is it worth bringing to the dealership to fix? has anyone else noticed this problem with there's?

Are you sure you're reading the wiper stalk markings correctly? Can you post a pic of the wiper stalk so we can see how the intermittent markings are illustrated and try to figure out if it's "operator error" or if it's indeed wired wrong.

If it truly is backwards I personally wouldn't make a special trip for it but would mention it at the 5K service when you will likely be there anyway, assuming you take the free services (but be prepared to leave it for a few hours, my dealership takes 2 hours just to do the regular free service)

 

I don't want to say it is wired backwards but he is right. The markings work in reverse of any other vehicle I've ever had, including my Tundra and Camry.

 

Including my 2007 Tacoma...
That's why I asked the questions I did; it's totally counter intuitive, but wired correctly.

 

Yeah my 2007 was wired this way:

---- = Longest delay in between wipes
---
--
- = Shortest delay in between wipes


2015 is the opposite:

---- = Shortest delay in between wipes
---
--
- = Longest delay in between wipes

I now try to think of it as ---- (4) is the number of wipes in a given time which is more than - (1) in that same time. PS. F U Toyota!

Yeah, they switched them around 2007 or so on other models. Dashes no longer represent delay like in the old days. It now represents rain. More dashes = More rain = More swipes per minute (i.e. Less delay). Drives those of us nuts with two Toyotas with opposite setups.

 

My outgoing Audi is the same, look at the marker being speed, not delay. So longer the mark the faster they move. Changing between cars always throw me off. I am that guy who cranks it up full when it's a light rain, then slows it down hoping no one noticed.

 

i agree it is counter-intuitive, but at no point did i think it was "wired wrong" lol. i just thought oh, i guess the symbols are backwards from my pathfinder and moved on with life.

 

Yeah this is just a case of different designs. My Kia Sorento and Toyota Tacoma are opposite from each other.

 

Noticed the same thing when I traded in my 2008 on my 2014. I had to check the manual to see if it was correct. Makes no sense to me why they reversed it.

 

Glad it's not wired incorrectly for you. Personally I wouldn't be taking the truck in even if it were. I'd rather not give the dealership any reason to rip into the truck even if it is only dash removal with a little rewiring.

I don't think I've ever even looked at how the column is labeled, i just turn it and figure out which way is faster/slower. A lot of manufacturers do things differently.

Even the "Mist" option where you just need one quick wipe you push up on the Tacoma buit our other vehicle (2014 Explorer) you push it down for the single pass.

 

might just be done like that on purpose to be different.
I know when I drove my friends M5 I was stumped at the sequential gear box...pushing up is down a gear, pulling down is up. so weird.

 

This ^^ I have never even looked at the symbols...on any car.
