    Are floor mats a mod?
No fix unless u want to convert to a manual. just a Taco thing. Make sure you press the brakes when stopped to avoid rolling into the car in front of u. U get used to it.

The dealer said they could fix it but it would cost a grand to do so. Figured I might be able to do it myself..

That blue stuff on the splines is an oil impregnated nylon coating, which is designed to provide the lube needed for movement without additional grease which atracks dust and other grit causing wear.
This blue stuff is used from light trucks all the way to semi's, so I don't think that greasing the splines would make a difference, which is why the factory doesn't put a grease zerk on the slip yoke.

What you're feeling is the trans back shifting to first gear, which is very low. Take off from a dead stop and realize how fast the truck shifts out of first,,, now when you come to a stop, just as you stop movement release the brake just a bit before pushing it to stop, (like a pump) that should stop the jerk you feel at stop lights. (If you get what I mean, you'll know it).

Yep already figured out that little trick. I've learned to live with it just curious if it might be something simple to fix.

Everyday at the same stop light I get my AC lurch. It will be nice once it finally cools off.

The picture that I used of the spline isn't tacoma specific. It's a pic off the internet to use as a reference. There are threads about guys taking their slip yokes apart to find that they are pretty dry from the factory.

These guys are dead on....my 2011 has done it sense day 1. When the compressor kicks on, the truck will inch forward even with the brakes pressed to the floor.

I have a 2015 (automatic trans) and noticed the "jerking" for the first time this morning, while stopped at a light, and still in gear. I had been stopped for about 5 to 10 seconds. I put the truck in neutral and did a few small revs and left it in neutral for about 30 seconds and did not notice the movement while the truck was in neutral. After applying the brake, putting the truck back into Drive, the jerking went away and I did not notice it after that. I attributed it to "maybe" because of the recent colder outside temps and cold trans fluid because I havent driven it for a few days.
Thank you for the illustrations moondeath and it sounds like this could be a minor/common issue- but I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

I had a similar experience with my 2000, I did have the axle wrap to a small degree, but, the problem turned out to be the rear brake shoes way out of adjustment, they were sticking to the drum after initial brake release, and acceleration...

One can never have too many light bars.
There's a TSB on the slip yoke. I had this issue a few weeks ago and I'm going to drop my truck off tomorrow for a new drive shaft all for free. Not sure if its included in the warranty but the adviser at my dealer said that toyota knows this is a problem.

Yeah I talked to my dealer and they said it was out of warranty for me. I have 07 with 177000 miles on it but only bought from them a year ago.
