I searched and really didn't find much as for reviews or information so please excuse the question.

Are the stock TRD off road Goodyear Wranglers really that bad? What are your thoughts?

My truck gets delivered next week and based on the responses I may want to take advantage of the Discount Tire Direct $100 off ebay sale and get some D or E load tires before it expires on Oct 27. I'll probably go with a 265/75 R16 to keep things relatively close to stock as my off roading tends to be pretty mild.

Anyone want to buy 5 new Goodyear Adventure with Kevlar tires (265/70R16)?

The Goodyear brand is aptly named since they are only good for one year. Tried Goodyear tires twice. Will never buy them again.

I like mine so far, they make some noise but not much compared to most ATs I've owned.

This past week they exceeded my expectations in the snow; I only lost traction once and was when I stopped on a steep icy incline.

WTF, you stopped on an incline and your engine didn't stall and explode?

Seem fine to me. I will replace them with something else, when they are worn out. Not worth losing a bunch of money on replacing them with something while they are still new.

thanks for the info guys. you have confirmed my thoughts. Keep em coming.

JMadder13, looks exactly like the terrain I'll be in...mixed dirt road, rock and snow but nothing that requires a lift or big tires (yet ;)). We have some volcanic rock on the trails I drive so I'm afraid of punctures.
...dang I'd be happy with that.

I have Cooper Discoverer ATP on my GMC so I am considering those but Hankook ATM and Yokohama Geolandars are dang close seconds. Tough choices.

I think folks have a knee jerk reaction to whatever tire is chosen to be OEM for a vehicle and just say it's shit, out of hand.

The Wrangler Adventure is a decent tire. I have a set on my '99 TRD and like them just fine (came from Bridgestone REVOs):

My Duratracs are quieter than the ones that come with the OR. I think I have a bad belt in one of the. Bad vibration on the RR at 75-77 mph. I'm saving up faster now for my Icon so I can ditch them.

Yes. I initially thought it was too much, but when I had the BFG KO2's installed my tire place confirmed that the OEM Goodyears sell for over $200 a piece locally. They are $187 plus shipping on tirerack. I just listed them the other night and had several people contact me. I was surprised I got my full asking price of $500 so quickly.

That 8.5 on noise must be from only driving city speeds. You can definitely hear them going 65MPH+ as I was thinking "what quiet cabin?" on the interstate. Haven't been able to test wet traction but did get to play around on the beach last week. Didn't air down and they seemed to pull a lot better than the Rugged Fails on my 2nd gen and gave no problems cutting over ruts to get around a stuck suv.

I just installed 265/75/16 BFG KO2's on my new TRD OR. I like them a lot, but I live 2 miles from a paved road so my needs are different than many. The KO2's only come in an E rated LT version in this size. However, I've always had good luck with BFG KO's and KM's (owned 4 different vehicles with these tires).

If this was a daily driver, if I rarely went off road, and/or if I had a long paved commute, I'd consider something less aggressive. I've had good luck with Hankook Danapro ATM's, Hankook Open Country AT2's are also supposed to be great and they come in a "C" rated version.

I've never owned Goodyear Duratrac's, but my twin brother is a land surveyor who owns a company with several trucks set up for off road. He loves the off road traction of the Duratrac's, but he says that the C rated Duratrac sidewalls are too easily punctured compared to the BFG KO2's. I actually had to drive over a mile out a pretty nasty trail recently to help him get a punctured Duratrac changed (he had no jack). That said, if you aren't in sharp rocky terrain, the Duratrac's would be fine. Both the Duratrac's and KO2's are awesome in snow and great in most off road conditions. The Toyo AT2's are also really nice, although those are a bit less aggressive. You can get those is a C rated LT size which is what I'd go with if I was to buy those. The P rated AT2's are nice, but have less tread depth than the LT's.
