I had TRD Exhaust on my 2015, and i took it off the truck before trading it in for my 16'. I manage a Performance shop as my day job and I also do a lot of fabricating so I set out to see how hard it would be to make the TRD Exhaust fit, and it's actually quite simple.

With the TRD catback and the stock catback set next to each other, you see that they are really quite similar in shape (almost identical with exception of front section).

Here is a picture of the two exhaust next to each other. All the hangers and bends are the exact same, all we are doing here is trimming the TRD Exhaust to the same length as the flange on the OE Exhaust, this is after measuring and cutting the TRD Exhaust to length.
    IMG_5714_a866116703c93b14c8eb2decbd2860bf8af12a74.jpg

I then used some 3/8" thick stainless plate to make a new flange from a template I made from the truck-side of the exhaust. I just used the original bolts to hold the flange and line everything up. From this point you can hang the TRD Exhaust and hope you cut it to the correct length.

Here is after tack welding the exhaust to the flange I made.

At this point you're pretty much done, weld the flange up all the way and you're good to go! My shop works on subaru's a lot, and we stock these Remflex 3" Exhaust Flange gaskets on the shelf and they worked perfectly when paired up with the small lead donut that came with the stock exhaust. http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/product/rmf-rf8006-remflex-3-inch-2-bolt-exhaust-gasket

Here's a quick shot with the exhaust on the truck, I love the way it looks and it sounds pretty decent too. Kind of hard to explain the sound difference between the 4.0 and the new 3.5 but i like it. I'll post a sound clip up soon.

I would more interested to know if it changes your motor's power and run-ability.

The truck just rolled over 1,000 miles, so at this point it's hard to say because the trucks power and run-ability has increased on its own as it's broken in. It does run and drive very smooth now that there are some miles on it, I just cant confirm that it was due to changing the exhaust.

Inlet/Outlet Diameter run roughly 2.50". Muffler length is 21.50" I will attach pictures of the stock exhaust. The inlet and outlet are both centered vertically, but the inlet is at the top, and the outlet at the bottom.

I noticed the bends and mounting locations looked very similar on the new one compared to old. I did see that the headers came back a bit further on the new ones. I currently have a TRD exhaust from a DCSB and will be buying a 2016 DCLB. Will I still need to cut the exhaust to length? It looked almost identical when I was crawling around under a new DCLB. I didnt measure but I wish I wouldve

Anyone with a 3rd gen DCLB want to measure the distance from the muffler to the flange?

Since I installed my catback onto a DCSB, I had to cut just under 21" off the TRD Exhaust. Where you'll be getting the long bed you will probably still have to trim the TRD catback but not nearly as much (in theory). I haven't been under neath a long bed to see the exhaust so i'm curious to see the difference.

From what I could see it looks the same except the distance from the muffler to the flange is longer. Since the added bed length is in front of the rear wheel, I cant see it being too much hassle. Maybe Ill just have a local exhaust shop weld a flange on for me once I cut it

Does it look like the headers cannot be replaced? I remember reading they moved them with the new engine.

Thanks for the thread. It's inspired me to maybe purchase a '15 TRD Catback exhaust. Just a two ended question: has anyone whose installed the TRD catback noticed power and mpg increase or decrease? Appreciate any feedback.

Anyone know if the main diff between the 05-15 & 16+ is the pipe length on the flange size or would the muffler be different also?

Here in Canada the 16+ is $1200 and the 05-15 is $515

Just found this thread, thanks for posting this! Do the 2nd gen and 3rd gen have compatible flanges? I'm eyeing a 2013 TRD exhaust taken from an access cab long bed and hoping to fit it onto my 3rd gen double cab short bed. Both vehicles have the same wheelbase so length-wise should be the same. Not sure about hangers and the flange aspect of it though. Thanks!
