Agree 100% & I'll take it a little further, seems theres an agreement that the '16 sits slightly higher than the '15,

Most of you seem convinced it's a stiffer &/or longer coil , & maybe the rear leafs have a little more ARC let's say.
I'm assuming that the suspension is the same as 2nd gen

I've heard no mention of cab height/width between the years seeing how the body lines have changed ,this alone could be the "bigger stance" & not a change in suspension that makes it higher, it makes sense to find a concrete reference point when comparing a before/& after lift numbers result, I try to always get a measurement before & after, but I'll use a story pole & a 6'-8' level with truck on level ground (with driver in place) static height & with the pole & level I'll go off the highest & lowest points respectfully, I can tell you how much lift was attained overall & even how much lift was gained at each corner....

If you have cab mounts like the 2nd gens & offroad, ya may have to chop...

 

With 265's he won't have to chop a damn thing. Doesn't even need a lift.

 

I am wanting to level out the front I am thinking about 5100's on stock coils, do I have to replace the back shocks as well? I am on 265/70r17 at the moment and I don't see myself getting bigger tires in the near future and it's my daily driver I am just trying to have better ride quality.

 

No need to put on 5100s in the rear if you just want to level out the front with 5100s.

 

A 265 is pretty much stock, who lifts a truck & stays with stock tire ?

I have run 265/75r16 on all of my toyotas (1+" bigger than stock). I have also lifted these trucks in the 2" range (OME). 2" lift with 265's improves undercarriage clearance by a fair amount and leaves everything else close to factory specs (including mileage). It is a nice size and lift if you are not doing extreme rock crawling and want a capable North American overland rig that still behaves on the road. My .02.

That said nothing wrong with a bigger lift and bigger tires. It is all in the intended use. And to give you some props a 265/75r16 can be run with no lift. Infact if my toyotas were street/highway queens, I would run that tire with no lift as you mentioned.

Well, it wasn't me I don't think, my reference to chopping the mounts would only apply if you offroad, I've seen bad rubbing on mounts with tires that most liely wouldn't had rubbed if that stupid ass mount wasn't hanging out there..

 

With 885's installed on 5100s, it's recommended to keep the spring seat at the stock setting. 885s on the stock 5100 ring seat will push you up about 2-2/12 inches which will give you visible front end rake without doing anything to the rear. 5100s with the stock spring set at .85 or 1.75 will give you a nice level without needing rear modifications.

 

I'm not sure you want to paint yourself this way. I'm just saying....anytime my dick had come into contact with an asshole, the asshole didn't win the battle....just saying....

Good afternoon Kopite. Congrats on the truck, looks great. You can kinda thank me for that I was the one to back out of deal with with Auto Nation because Charles Maund got the same model in first. Curious what you paid if you don't mind disclosing. For me was 32,500 - trade 13,500 (Tacoma 07).

Also does anyone have a recommendation for AT tires for stock 17"wheels to give a bigger/bolder appearance without doing other mods. Thanks!

 

I've always like the BFG AT/KO look on yotas. All years, gens, and models...But that is my personal preference.

I have the Cooper ATP pretty quiet tire and they don't affect ride quality. I really like them
