The back of my truck has a 110V outlet and I'm wondering what the biggest thing you can plug into there is. I have a truck tent and during the winter I was planning on plugging an electric blanket or possibly a space heater into the outlet. Do you think that it is strong enough to power these things? I am also curious about other things like a power drill or small air compressors. Checking to see what other people have plugged in and what has worked.

400 Watt is the max power. Look at the wattage usage on the device you plan to use. If it exceeds that, it'll trip.

For the portable heater I was thinking about getting a remote start system installed in the truck so that in the middle of the night if I get cold I can just start up the truck and have the heater run for a little bit to heat up the tent and then I can turn the truck back off. I thought that was a pretty clever idea but I don't know if it will work the way that it will work in my head haha

You would still need to turn on the inverter inside the truck every time you start it.

Why would Toyota even bother putting an outlet in the bed if all you can do with it is charge phones? Bummer

    None at this time.
Mine wouldn't power a a HD circular saw. I use it for a fan at the track/riding. It's weak.

Speak for yourself. I bought a pancake compressor from Harbor Freight for like $50 that is low enough amp draw that the bed outlet powers it just fine. Perfect for airing up tires after airing down for a trail.

I've used the outlet in bed on numerous occasions to power smaller power tools (drills, reciprocating saws) and flood lights. I don't use it a lot, but it comes in handy when I do use it.

    Yes.
400w is about 3.6A at 110v - with the truck idling.
there are a lot of things that will run at 3.6A or under.
For instance the charger for your DeWalt cordless tools (including impact.)

With the truck in gear you're looking at 100w which is .9A (round up to 1A)

The ARB Fridge pulls 72W DC. The AC draw is going to be similar, and as a result the truck's inverter should easily power that even while driving down the road.

I used it to plug in a shop vac to vacuum the truck. It worked but seemed a little weaker than if I plugged it in an outlet in the garage. I've also plugged in a box fan and it did fine.

can always install a more powerful inverter in the bed with a quick disconnect so you can remove it when not needed

And when dealing with motors 746 Watts= 1HP if I remember correctly so a 1/2 hp motor driven device would be no problem.

I was also planning on getting an inflatable mattress with a built in pump and I was wondering if it would have enough power for the pump

Could always just leave the rear window open and make a tube to the tent and just have the interior heater on full blast and maybe it'll come into the tent if you do that lol. May take a while.

    But what about...a pancake maker?

I've run a lot of things at once off of it. It's not the most powerful thing but it will run more than a cell phone charger.
