I agree; the second clone to right this wrong and armor up against this injustice and bring back a new model is here and ready for a fight and ready to bare all inhibition when doing so....Erin, be our leader. The new Ridgeline is in sight. Not bad for someone born in 1950. The cloning process works well.

You're right. I haven't gotten to the face yet but otherwise, there is a resemblance. Without....live dangerously, on the edge. Lockers are for wimps.

    Yup. I love me some I6. 2 FJ40's and a bmw!

Major topic in my mechanical engineering classes (20 years ago) was engine balancing and how I-6's have one of the best natural balances of any engine.. Yup, V12, v8, and boxer 4 in there too.
Problem in I-6 is supporting the long crankshaft from bending stresses and intake charge/ block inequal heat distribution.

Screw it, just go with the perfectly balanced X24 engine. It's just 4 I6 engines sharing one crankshaft. What could go wrong?

So if the Colorado had the same reliability history as the Taco, would that change anyone's mind?

Here's what I'd need to buy a Colorado, note somethings it already has but it might not in the future:
    1. 0% financing over 5 years.
    2. Diesel option on DCSB.
    3. A very good track record on the engine and powertrain over 5 years in the USA and Canada.
    4. Full aftermarket bolt on mod support for offroading (sliders, bumpers, shocks etc etc.)
    5. A selectable rear locker.
    6. Roughly 3K in discounts available.
If, in 2018-2023 when I'm likely going to buy one, the Colorado has those things I will be taking a long and hard look at it. Otherwise, I'll pass.

BTW if Ford makes the international Ranger available in NA with a Diesel or Ecoboost option I'm probably not buying a Tacoma next go around. I've had really good luck with Fords and I had a Ranger when I was younger so I'd probably go that direction. Especially if the Ranger FX4 has the same sort of options as it's big brother.

    @FlyFisher1 here's my list explained.

    1. 0% financing over 5 years. Low financing rates would make up for the higher depreciation in my mind and on paper.
    2. Diesel option on DCSB. I need to go to a shorter truck next go around so I need either a DCSB or ACLB.
    3. A very good track record on the engine and powertrain over 5 years in the USA and Canada. The truck has to hold together extremely well on road and off or it's no use to me. I want the Diesel if it's available because I always go with the strongest engine combination I can get stock. Plus, the mpgs would be nice after the lift and tires.
    4. Full aftermarket bolt on mod support for offroading (sliders, bumpers, shocks etc etc.) I'm not going to pay a pile of money for custom fabrication on a Colorado if the Tacoma is available with bolt on support for way WAY less mony than custom steel costs.
    5. A selectable rear locker. If ARB makes a locker for the Colorado rear end then this doesn't matter. However, if they don't, I need a real locker in the back. Sorry G80, you'll work for the average guy but I don't want you behind a high torque diesel engine offroad.
    6. Roughly 3K in discounts available. I can get this much off of a Tacoma right now from what people are reporting in Canada. Why settle for a GM if it costs more than a Tacoma?

Nah. If anything I think the best name would be the F100. That way they can count it as an F series pickup and it can carry the Ranger name for the OR versions. There are lots of people out their with fond Ranger memories from my generation.

No one from my generation remembers the Pinto lol.

Fond memories of a Ranger ? I don't even have fond memories of the pre Tacoma trucks. Good riddance to all of those backboards.

Sadly I6's are history. I've owned three Mercedes I6's, a 220S, 220SE, 280S. I moved on from them in the late 80's but when I wanted another sport sedan I chose the I6 2000 Lexus GS300. That was a sweet engine, nice machine overall. I like bikes with I6's also, as you can see in my avatar, the awesome '79 Honda CBX.

That's right. Should go with drum brakes in the front too, as the Toyota guy says, better for off road.

well, saw something funny today when passing buy a construction site right by my house.

brand new Colorado being pulled out of a tiny bit of mud by a 2nd gen Tacoma.
Nothing that should have actually trapped any 4x4. It was a very small amount of mud. Pretty pathetic. At the same time plenty of other trucks were driving through the same area no problems at all.

That's a very convincing argument in Tacoma's favor. Those guys at Car & Driver had it all wrong, 4WD probably doesn't even work in those damn Colorados and Canyons.
