Looks EXACTLY like what happened to my brand new truck a few weeks ago. Same spot, same damage. Right down to how the bumper curves up a bit. My estimate was about 1500 bucks. Less than 3 days in the shop. I know how bad it sucks, but I can promise you there is no frame damage there.

That's what I was thinking. Are they required to replace it with an oem bumper or no?

You think they will cover it?

I'll let the shop handle all of that. thays what they getting paid for

Also it looks hideous. But ya seems like everybody with a hitch in tends to tweek the frame.

Thinking about getting a pelfreybilt plate bumper...

I feel sorry for you bro. Sucks that it's brand new. We're you able to get anything extra out of it? Like a plate bumper or anything? Seems like everybody tends to do that. Is it legal?

I meant pull the two pieces of metal away from each other so they don't further beat the paint off one another. If you can avoid paint at a body shop...you

    A. save money
    B. have a much smaller chance that they mess up your truck.

The last thing you want is body shop overspray all over the whole truck because of one scratch in your bedside where the bumper corner touched it.

Personally, I would just get a bumper for it, straighten the bedside as best i can, and get the frame professionally looked at.

    Just my $.02

Sorry this happened to you and your new truck :(

Do people seriously think our trucks are made out of tin foil? A slight fender bender won't cause any frame damage.

You'd be surprised. These aren't fully boxed frames. They're C channel.

Always have to be sure anyway.

Ya always better to be safe than sorry. And cars nowadays are meant to crumple to lessen physical injuries. Much rather have my truck get crumpled than my body.

I get what you're saying now. Good points. Thanks for the advice

Just got back from the State Farm appraiser. I was given 1500$ for the damages. Do you guys feel that it's fair?

More than fair! You're lucky, use it to upgrade. I had the same thing happen a few months back. Just pulled it back, hammered it out and touched up the paint on the bedside corner and done. Good as new.

Is it pretty easy to install a new bumper? And touch up paint? I've never done touch up paint before

Yeah, OEM replacement is a cake walk. The tricky thing about most aftermarket bumpers is weight so you'll want two people to hold it in place and mounting the license plate lights. I used a heat gun to sort of melt my paint a little so the touch up blended right in. Not 100% professional but it looks good and I just wanted to prevent rust. I also didn't want to report an accident because over here I'm pretty sure they show on title. Since you already have you can just get everything done professionally

How much would it cost for another bumper? Or is it cheaper to go with a plate bumper? Should I try savage yards? I'm really cheap. Ultimately my plan was to gain a little cash from this inconvenience so I'm trying to save as much as I can

Cheapest would be to get another chrome bumper from a junk yard or craigslist and install yourself. Should be no more than $200-300 tops.

Um, considering the above I would keep the cash and drive it. It's a truck and now it has it's first (guessing) battle wound. Your then 1500 bucks to the good...

Word! That's what I did, see above, but I think OP is looking for the cheapest fix
