Looks like that's the only thing that rusted/corroded (odd) but yeah...if you have access to a blaster, that should do the trick. Of course any paint will get rubbed off where the door mechanism contacts the striker plate... so maybe just blast and clear coat it.

I requested mine on August 9th. It got here yesterday (Oct 26) Apparently they do a mass mailing once there's a bunch of request's. Give it a few more days. It may show up yet!

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I am never one to shit on anyone but I think this is a good alternative to the cables that Crom has bought. Nice set of 4 gauge 20 ft jumper cables. I highly doubt they are 100% cooper like Crom's are but for only $40.53 they should be good for almost anybody.

I am in the process of determining what components I want to use to lift/level my girl (with the help of Headstrong). Also in the process of figuring out how to get my financial manager (the wife) to approve the funds request.....

No debate, I already know everything I want except for trying to find differences between OME front shocks and 5100's. And if I want to get UCA's now or not. Besides that, it's all already decided.

If there's anything I've learned (the hard way) over the years is, NOTHING....Not a truck or car, not an ATV, not a tractor.....NOTHING mechanical will EVER break down when/where/how you want it to. They'll ALWAYS stop in the most inconvenient, awkward, crowded spot you can ever imagine. That goes for batteries needing to be jumped as well as any other breakdown.

Years ago, my father was a general contractor. I was the "hired help"....Carpenter/brick mason/welder/iron worker/equipment operator/"go get lunch"/surveyor/mechanic. Now. Dad made Jack Benny look like the last of the big time spenders. (Old guy Jack Benny reference) We had back hoes that I swear he took the OEM batteries out and put OLDER ones in their place. You could NEVER rely on one to start without jumping it. They would always be parked in a spot that made them less vulnerable to being stolen or vandalized.

So.....When I bought my last set of jumper cables, I searched high and low until I found a set that is 30' long. Expensive devils....And I cannot recall the brand, other than I bought 'em through a business that builds and supplies equipment for the tow truck industry.

To put it in terms that EVERYONE can understand. No one ever complains about something being too long, but they sure's hell will complain if it's too short.

@simplehuman technically yes i could, its only about an inch or so overhang, and so far i have not had any issues with items loaded in the bed hitting them. I made them from 1 inch aluminum angle, rounded off the edges, and used some rattle can bed liner to make it look better. And thank you!

Any time I've broken down there was no one in sight and no cell reception! I'd love to break down somewhere crowded next time! :)

    Been there before!

Back before my wife and I met, I was the typical batchelor. (Chasing women all the time) A date suggested I go dancing with her one night. That was about the peak of the "Urban Cowboy" era. I had NO interest in dancing, but there was this VERY impressive looking pair of jeans that made me say "OK GREAT I'll go!".

I walked in the place, started counting....There were 25 women for every guy there. Hmmmm! With odds like that, I might even do OK. 3 weeks later, I was starting to help the dance instructor who worked this place. She needed guys to help with lessons. I got to take 'em free just for helping.

You'd have thought 2-steppin' was my life!

OK....So I'm helping teach, and hanging out until closing time 3 or 4 nights a week. This one night, it was VERY cold. Maybe 4 or 5 degrees out. I hopped in my Ford 4wd and starte dhome. I decided to take a short cut through some back roads. There was this old brick church next to a civil war era grave yard. It was the stuff legends were made of. Everyone in town always claimed it was haunted. I round a curve just before the old church, and just as I did, EVERYTHING went dead. No lights, no engine, no ANYTHING. Included in that, no flashlight and NO HEAT!

I waited about 30 minutes before coming to the conclusion NO ONE was coming down that road after dark, except for the idiot in the dead Ranger. So I started walking....then RUNNING....found a house about a mile down the road. A woman came to the door. She invited me in. (No, this isn't a Penthouse Forum story) I couldn't believe it. I was a bit stunned. The entire house was FULL of computer work stations with wires strung everywhere. I never did figure out what that was all about. But, she let me call a buddy. (This was before cell phones were as common) This friend shows up. We take a quick look and still don't see anything obvious, so he chains up to my Ranger with his old Toyota Landcruiser. I couldn't help but wonder why he was yanking on my truck, It was like he didn't have ANY power to pull me. We were on a very icy road and he wasn't spinning, but we weren't getting anywhere either. About a mile down the road, I look down and notice my emergency brake is set. Dumb ass.....

Well, the trip home got easier after than. I never did tell my friend about the brake thingy....

But yes, I know all about breaking down in the middle of nowhere with no one around.

Ended up being a bad battery cable end. Next morning, I popped the hood, looked at the cable, merely touched it and the cable end snapped off.

Very next night, I met my future wife via a blind date. That was the end of my "dance instructor" days....

And we all lived happily ever after.

    THE End.

blackmountain10-24-15.jpg It's rainy, cold, and I'm bored. So I decide to say to hell with the rain and go outside anyway. I picked up a 14" antenna yesterday. I'd heard the OEM antenna bang against the A-pillar enough times this past Saturday that I decided ENOUGH! I've seen flippin' cell phone towers that aren't as tall as the OEM Toyota antenna. Reception seems to be just fine. Less than $10. Now I'm bored again.
