I'll tell this for sure, I've been on a couple of these forums and some folks can become real jerks. I like to look beyond them though. Because a lot of folks (like me) have been in your shoes, I feel your pain. It's a good place to vent and I hope, that in the future, you won't avoid venting here. If it need be, hopefully not though.....you get what i'm saying.

I've been around for a little while. I have learned that if you don't pay attention now, you won't be able to afford to pay for attention later.

You know when my best friend, of 15 years, doesn't answer the phone when I call him, and I leave a voicemail, I leave him message of such utter discontent he hopefully isn't near a church when he listens to it. When he calls back, I make sure I have my volume down because I know exactly what he's about to say.

 

Venting or post whoring can be confused sometimes...

 

Definitely not post whoring. Was just trying to vent and get some feedback from everyone but obviously didn't set it up correctly and got tons of hate posts. Oh well. Lesson learned. No more posriposting after all of this.

 

At least he is paying to have it repaired. Give him some credit. This is why nobody drives my truck but me and the old lady. And she refuses to drive it.

 

This thread reminds me of that celebrity 'Roast' show on Comedy Central.

 

Question, did he mess up your running board in the process? Or was it a wider post at the top that was hit, only hitting the truck in that one spot?

 

No damage to the running board. Only hit that one spot somehow.

 

I sure hope you noticed he could not drive after he fu.... Up your truck. If you knew he could not drive prior to letting him use your truck then that was a bone head move on your part

 

Agreed. Was just trying to help him out so didn't think much of it. Lesson learned for the future.

 

This thread is a shining example of how message boards work. Bravo!

I'm really surprised by a few things.
1. That the OP was that upset about something that he doesn't have to pay for, and that should be fixed with little issue (hopefully).
2. That so many people say they don't let people borrow their truck. That's really lame. You must either be city folk or really selfish.
3. That a fence post caused that kind of damage while backing out of a driveway. Looks like a fence post hit the truck going about 60 mph.

 

Upset because I expected it to be taken better care of, but accidents do happen, I know that. My guess is it never happened to you so that is probably why you don't understand. Regardless of it getting fixed it's still upsetting.

And he said he hit a fence post pulling out of his driveway, so I have to take his word for it and hope he's not making that up and it was really something else. Guess I'll never know.

 

Definitely beat the crap out of him. Material possessions are worth more than friendships or not being in prison

True - I've never had such a thing happen to one of my vehicles from a friend borrowing it. I'm sure I'd be a little upset.

 

OK....And you let him borrow your truck, Sounds like you BOTH made serious miscalculations in judgement.

It's OK to get mad, but you cannot un-ring the bell. Move on with life. Don't let anger live rent free in your mind. Get it fixed. Demand he pay the bill. And quit bashing the person who YOU handed the keys to. He didn't steal it. So you get to own some of the responsibility. It's LIFE 101.

Getting mad is natural. STAYING mad is self destructive.
