    Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd do a little write up for those who don't have Intermittent Wipers on their 2016's and would like to put them in! I Just purchased a 2016 SR 5 Speed 4 Cylinder and it did not come with a intermittent switch so i decided to put a switch in to see if it works. The switch is out of a 2014 Toyota Corolla! Its very similar to the 2nd Gen switches but a slightly different method of getting it out.

I purchased the Intermittent switch from @jshsltr. I believe he has more switches to sell and you can find them here!!!

    Here ya go!!!!

Step 1: Remove both screws behind the steering wheel. (Its easiest to start the truck up and turn the wheel 90 degrees to both sides to access the screws.)
    20151026_202354.jpg 20151026_202411.jpg

    With both screws out.
    20151026_202508.jpg 20151026_202516.jpg

Step 2: Separate the top and bottom covers around the steering wheel, the almost fall right apart when u try to separate them. (Its easiest to have the steering wheel adjusted to the lowest point when getting the top cover off and raise it up to remove the bottom cover.
    20151026_202701.jpg

Step 3: Start the truck up and turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to the right so you have access to the switch.
    20151026_202712.jpg

Step 4: Unplug the 4 pin & 3 pin wires that are plugged into the bottom of the wiper switch.
    20151026_202724.jpg
    20151026_202829.jpg

Step 6: Now this is the part thats the opposite from the 2nd Gen switches. You have to pull up on this tab to release the switch for it to come out. (You can use a small screw driver or I used a small Allen key to get behind it. "DO NOT PULL TO HARD ON THE TAB CAUSE YOU CAN BREAK IT!!!!!!!" It only has to come up about a 1/16" to release the wiper switch.
    20151026_202848.jpg

Step 7: Insert the new wiper switch the same was as it came out until it clips in place under the tab you pulled up on in the previous step.
    20151026_203025.jpg
Step 8: Plug the 4 pin & 3 pin connectors back into the new switch.
    20151026_203041.jpg

Step 9: Reinstall the top and bottom shrouds around the steering wheel. Lower the steering wheel and set the top one of first then raise the wheel all the way up and insert the bottom shroud. Then they both clip together.

Step 10: The reverse of Step 1, reinstall both screws back into the shroud on both sides of the steering wheel.

    Congratulations:
You are complete and you can now enjoy your intermittent wipers!!!!!!!!

What a great write up and terrific picture support!!!!!! I haven't had to use the wipers yet down here in Florida, so I don't even know if I have intermittent wipers. Id guess so on the TRD OR, but Ill have to check.
    Thanks for posting.

    Great writeup, with decent pics!

Just curious, did you find out about the ignition ring from experience?

your wrong about that little black ring. thats for your remote start you have. yours wont start because its tied into the immobilizer. stock trucks dont have that and isnt a issue

    I don't think he's wrong.
That key looks fat like it does have a chip in it.

they key does have a chip in it but the black ring is apart of his remote start system which is tied into the immobilizer. stock trucks dont have the black ring. but they do have immobilizers.

So just to be clear, that black ring was not installed by Toyota, but rather by an aftermarket company?

Just did this in about 15 minutes, no issues. The little pull-up tab is tricky; just be careful with it. The two halves for me were very well snapped together, so I had to pull a bit. No damage done!

    Thanks!

I just finished mine. Not as easy as the cruise control, but not difficult at all.

    Thanks for the info.

Something funny: the oil filter from my 2000 V6 is the same as the one for the 2016 I4.

Makes me wonder what else is interchangeable.

I also see from the window sticker on my truck, the intermittent wipers were listed, but two speed was installed.
