Wow that's friggin crazy. What a price gouger too. "Close proximity to the power lines" such a line of bs. You can see the power lines in the distance behind them and it's not like the lines were down. Also isn't getting arrested a little excessive for the trespassing. I could understand it if they found crazy shit in the guys truck but it seems pretty obvious to me that he just wanted to go wheeling.
I agree with you Noel if your going wheeling go with friends or call friends when you get stuck or at the very least just call the tow truck yourself. Sounds like he called the cops. No way a properly equipped towing company should have taken even 1 hour to get that truck out.
And don't even get me started on the fact that it's a Jeep!!! LOL

Utilities do the same thing here. They know it's a waste of time to try to patrol the lines, so they settle for fining the shit out of you if you get stuck and they catch you.

whoa whoa now, don't sell yourself short! Its a dangerous job watching the tow truck drag him out of the mud. Lots of potential to get your boots dirty, or even worse, get a mosquito bite.

Go in asking for $1,200 and work your way into a comfortable $1,100/hr. Make sure to shoot for 24 weeks of vacation too....you're gonna need it to spend all that money.

Close proximity to powerlines thing is b.s. I'd have to double check, but iirc the osha standard for "non-qualified" clearance to what I'm guessing is a 115kV line is like 28' of clearance. After that you are safe to do whatever Willy-nilly without fear of a flashover.

NESC required ground clearance under max operating temp/ a heavy I've case(whichever produces a beater sag) is ~21' for 115kV. That's everywhere along the conductor though so it's usually much higher than that to get clearance at midspan where sag is the most. At an everyday case if you have 21' of clearance under the above mentioned cases you likely have far more clearance(much less conductor sag) under normal conditions.

It looks like those idiots completely manhandled that Jeep listening to the list of issues. Broken leafs, broken drive shaft, broken frame... Either that thing was completely beat and broken before he got stuck or the tow company did their best to cause an incredible amount of damage to the truck.

My dog wants so badly to get the one in the woods behind our house and make a nice little meal of it.

    Sweet!
Is it a real Pontiac 455, or is it a 455 Rocket from an Oldsmobile, or a 455 Buick motor? What'd they put on there for carbs?

Yeah... At that point I'd tell them to go fuck themselves and get a lawyer.

Yeah, haven't had much luck finding people in the area to assist. Got a feeling I am going to fly at this blind or with YouTube videos.
