I'm almost scared to ask but whose this right person. If it was you I'm pretty sure you'd be figuring out how to fit a Cummins in his truck, screw the 2GR :p.

He is who Toyota should promote to Chief Eng instead of seat belt bracket Mike. I think the guy is one of the smartest car people around and definitely Toyota wizard...

This shows it is probably a true pressure problem not electrical.

Does the pressure sensor know that you just drove to level ground, and decide to start working properly? The reason the light went off is because it started seeing oil pressure. If the sensor was acting up changing the angle without turning it off should have had no effect and the light should have stayed on.

You guys are late to the party. There was no issue. Read the other thread about stalling.

The angle had better not effect oil pressure at all, and this might be a switch versus a sensor which makes contact or not.

Not saying they can run without oil. They can run on low oil pressure without damage. The rod bearings, crank bearings, and piston skirts have resin coating on them. Lowers friction and keeps a film of oil even with no pressure for short period of time. Resin coated bearings are also used in other applications where oil cannot be used. Snowmobile clutches are one example.

Hopefully for everyones sake all the reports are just a low oil light-non problem.

That seems much more plausible compared to other things suggested so far.

Especially since I would lose my deposit if I was to back out now. I'm just about to pull off the bull bar and driving lights and pack for the trek to go pick mine up in the morning. I don't expect to regret my decision, but this 2012 has a lot more life in than what I used in the last two years.

Logic and reasoning have no place on the Internet...

A greater sample size is necessary to determine scale of the issue anyway.

So we got a new truck that is only good for level driving? So what is all that advertising about off road use? Perhaps, so simple a problem, Toyota overlooked this little problem. bad design on oil pan and pump? We will see, perhaps, I wait awhile to think of trading in my 14.

I think I've seen a lot more oiling issues with the 1GR in the Tacoma specifically than the 2GR or 1GR in other vehicles. Replaced a few oil pumps due to production issues on the 1GR's. It was pretty contained within a small'ish production window though.

Still, the 2GR-FKS in the Tacoma is an updated design, so maybe they've got a new issue on their hands. :(

Hey guys. Just an update. My truck has been in the shop for a week and a half. The oil pressure readings came back fine along with every other test they tried to run on it. They flew a field agent to nc and he said it was a sensor issue. They are changing it out tomorrow and will run a few tests after. Hopefully if all checks out, I'll have my truck back tomorrow or Thursday.

Good to hear. Hope this will be the trend for anyone else with the issue.
