Crawl control worth it?

My proof is in my faith that Toyota doesn't like to spend any more money then they have to do and your comment earlier about it using the other systems. (I think) It's throttle by wire so that and the braking, transmission shifting all go through the computer. In an interview, Sweers said it uses the abs sensors along with the stability and traction control sevices ( yaw and all that shit) ...unless I missed something, it's a matter of calibrating a computer and the systems and new software along with a few switches. Why the discussion of all these boosters for the abs when they are all ready there for the ATrac ? Heck, they may have just used fake buttons and down loaded an ap from the ITunes Store.

 

it might be cheaper to buy a new OR and negotiate having it thrown into the deal then buying one outright from the parts department.

Again shows how little you have experienced with your truck in real off road conditions. Please don't just quote lines out of the manual unless you have used A-TRAC for so long it overheated your brake pads. I have twice on the same trip run for 3 hours straight in L4 with A-TRAC on to go the 15 miles to Mission Santa María and again back the next day... not one problem with brakes, A-TRAC, or ever needing the rear locker... on the toughest of trails in all of Baja. Pancake Rock run was shorter, but all A-TRAC and a piece of cake last year.

 

You have only said it's electric, trust me. The truth is out there.

can you get the locking dif and/or crawl control on the TRD 4x4 sport? or are both options just on the OR? what about the limited?

For the Off Road 4WDs, we have a HYDRAULIC brake booster because it can apply MUCH MORE brake force to stop wheel spin, as needed for A-TRAC. All other Tacomas have VACUUM brake booster. Everything in our trucks is electronic, it seems... so saying it is an electronical hydraulic booster doesn't really add anything, nor is it incorrect...

 

Now you got it... Just wait until our rear bed is made from transparent aluminum!

 

Funny story... it was the very same guy I have been asking for evidence.

 

I'm with the guy below. More amperage draws very little from the engine. Your pushing magnets against each other already and making a little more amperage doesn't cause much more drag from the alternator.

It's electrically boosted.

I'm sure your Prius uses electric. But if the Tacoma TRDOR uses electric then that means it has Prius brakes! The horror!

and though they call it a hydraulic brake booster it is, indeed, electrically driven. So, the 'hydraulic' booster should have no measurable impact on highway fuel economy.

Yes, DoorDing was right all along: the 4WD TRDOR has Prius brakes.
