I tried the WLED-CWHP15-TAC in the tails which were for the map lights and they didn't turn on.
I also bought the WLED-WHP6 (forgot I got these to try in the tails) but had those in the map lights at the time (which worked) I had the tail lights apart so I didn't get a chance to try them.

I am currently installing bed lights in my 2005 tacoma. I have the rail on the inside for the tie down hooks so thats where i am putting them. I order my lights off of ebay and have put them on many of my friends trucks and they work great. They come in multiple colors

If you use the Phillips led 194 bulbs in the map lights instead of a bare led, you will significantly reduce the glare from the map lights. The phillips bulb has a frosted cover that reduces glare. A bare led bulb in a map light can be blinding when illuminated while driving at night

XM... a limited selection with only a handful of channels that are near worth it. $16 here in Canada... or somewhere around there. Spotify, and Apple Music.... unlimited collection for $10 a month each. I'm a fan of the Apple Music selection. If you have a good data plan, and good coverage, so worth it!

hehe, that works until your eyes get older. blue is usually a hard color to adjust especially as the blue gets to a darker shade.

I just put mine in the weekend. I went with "WARM WHITE" instead of cool white up front. I like that color so much better. That bluish cool white just doesn't work with my eyes very well. The warm white in the up front domes is perfect, much brighter. I did buy the cool white for the rear because they didn't offer that festoon in "warm". It's definitely a lot brighter, but again, I dislike the "cool" color and will switch that out when I can find a warm color. It looks silly right now with the two different colors, but I wanted to compare them. I was pretty sure warm white was what I wanted, and this confirms it.

As for installing in the front domes - super easy. I used duct tape to pull the bulbs out. It's way stickier than scotch tape. You lightly wrap it around, and just pull straight down. They come out with ease that way, no 2nd tries.

Just ordered my LEDs and they should be here on Friday. Can't wait to get them installed and have some better quality and brighter lights in the cabin. This is an awesome thread and a cheap but meaningful upgrade.

I don't know if you all have this problem, but after swapping out the license plate lights, it's so bright now that making it difficult looking at the back up camera because of all the glares from the license plate lights.

I ordered these lights when this first posted but didn't install until today. I'd post pics but they're exactly like OP's. I had a helluva time until I read the subsequent posts of install tips. One of my map light LEDs had a very thin base. I couldn't get friction grip at all. I ended up adding small layers of duct tape on one side until it held fast. I'm sure it'll be a mess to take out a few years from now (if ever, hopefully). And speaking of duct tape, I used that tip to pull the bulbs out. I forget who posted that but thank you!

I didn't feel any need to brighten up my plates so didn't do those.

Overall, fantastic and inexpensive little upgrade. Makes a huge difference. Just wanted to thank patr (OP) for the write up.
