Thanks! I was looking into reviews about him and it seems he is the way to go- at least to get a quote from to have the LCAs taken down and new cam tabs welded. This is what I have removed so far...quite the hack job but I couldn't handle the rubbing. My wheels have a 4.5" backspacing. I am rubbing worse on the passenger side more than the driver's side- the passenger side is where my cam tabs are flattened. Maybe I should ask the tech if he can move my wheels forward more? My caster is already at 3.5 tho on both sides. I am rubbing at more like 45 degrees although if entering a driveway I rub bad even at 30 degrees. I sounds like the tread is hitting something plastic- and then if entering a steeper driveway I hear a "scraping" sound, like when a passenger car bottoms out- I wonder if that is where it is hitting the cab mount? I definitely need to do something- there is no way I can wheel like this.
4.5" BS. I have aftermarket UCAs too. I don't know why it is rubbing so bad. My caster is at 3.4-3.5 but my camber is not great- around 1.5 on the passenger side where I am rubbing more it seems.

Damn! I never had any rub on the back of the wheel well plastic or flare. Only cut plastic on the front of the wheel well. Only rubbed the metal of cab mount in back at full lock. I would def think this has to do with alignment and would take it back to Firestone see if they can adjust to get the tires moved forward a bit even with the f'd up cam tabs.

Thanks for the info Skully. I will def take it back and see if they can move it up and I'll probably end up cutting some of the inner plastic to see if that helps with rub when entering a slight incline

Love the stance of the Duratracs. No more rubbing on the plastic fenders, I cut back a tad of the metal fender and all I hear/feel is rubbing on the cab mount. I finally ordered the TC cam tab gussets from Wheelers and am thinking of just taking it to the 4x4 fab shop to take care of the cam tab replacements and the CMC
Took it for short drive up West Camino the other day to actually get some dirt on the new tires. And caught an amazing thunderstorm flashing lightning off to the East, and a beautiful sunset to the WestAlso need to do some work underneath to fit the full size spare- I'm tired of hearing the chain clanking bc there is nothing under the bed. the rear is so light without the tire, it makes it so bouncy with the Dakars

Most recent photo. Love how the tires fill out the wheel well. Gonna learn how to weld this week hopefully so I can weld together my Total Chaos cam tabs and get them on the truck, and then do a CMC to kill the rubbing at full lock.

It's interesting how light the bed is without a spare in the bed. I kind of don't want it in my bed, because it will make one side of the bed heavier than the other yes? And don't want to lay it up against the rear window because it will block my rear view. The tire is so big- it takes up a lot of room especially when I go camping since I have a short bed. So I'm going to chop the exhaust pipe and make it fit under there for now. The long term plan is to get a hi clearance rear with swingout! But got to save up some monies first. I'm gonna need to fix my LCA cam tabs first since one side is completely flat. Here I go down this stupid freaking rabbit hole....:annoyed::facepalm:

So I chopped two flanges that held the stock spare in place. Was able to fit the 285 under but it's pretty close to the rear diff pumpkin- I measured 1"- is that ok or is it too close? I'm just worried about the heat but not sure how hot the pumpkin gets. I measured 1/" between the spare and the muffler- I'm guessing too close and will need to chop the tailpipe at some point where it turns down. Is there a certain spot that I should cut the tail pipe?

I had to move the spare tire elevator back 1" so the diff does not contact the tire under compression. Got pics in my build thread.

The exhaust doesn't seem to be a problem, mine is trimmed just after the last hanger.

Thanks for all the advice on the tail pipe chop.
How did you move the spare tire hanger? Unbolt and move it? Mine does not actually touch the diff, well haven't tried flexing it and seeing, but in just concerned about the heat coming off the diff.
I'll surf through your page again and see what I can find

(EDIT: found it... Now just to find someone buff enough to hold the tire up while I mark the holes...

I managed to do a mini-CMC on the passenger side where I was running the most. It are is nerve wracking taking a cutting whee to your truck! Let alone using one for the second time in my life. I have Relentless CMC plates coming in the mail but couldn't take the rubbing on turning much longer hence why the premature cutting (I'm guessing you're supposed to trace the plate then cut then tack then weld). So I made sure not to cut too much- it doesn't rub as much, just at full lock going up a driveway. It was just too embarrassing having it run trying to park in a space! o_O
Oh and I also cut some of the pinch weld back and grinded it down. Next to mini chop the drivers side and take back the pinch weld. Then I will hopefully have my friend show me how to stick weld next week so I can finish the CMC and tack some plates on

:annoyed: I don't know if I ever want to do 35s. I don't do that much big rock crawling stuff. And I don't want to look like I have small (wo)man syndrome driving an oversized truck around town. I just wanted bigger tires because of the look and for the moderate off-roadin' I do. But here I go down the damn rabbit hole... On another note I think I saw your truck at Bath and Mission turning left, I was looking at it from the rear and thought, good looking truck with OMEs, sliders, duratracs and a ubolt flip- "must be a true off roader" is what went through my brain. Then I was like I bet it's probably @inv3ctiv3 !

PS I tried banging it with a regular hammer. It didn't do crap. Maybe I need to buy a bigger one? :goingcrazy: I just can't stop buying stuff! Next might be a welder...:goingcrazy::facepalm:

Sorry for the late reply. It's not to bad to move the elevator back. What I did was measure carefully with the spare in place, how much room I wanted to gain by moving it backwards. In my case I had 1+1/4" to play with. Then I dropped the spare and got it outta the way, then unbolted and removed the elevator. I saw I didn't many options because of the shape of the cross member, which is slightly different between model years. My choice was made for me. I moved it back 1" and it's been perfect. I used strong magnets to hold the elevator to the frame cross member while measuring and marking my holes. Picture here.

My main post for moving the elevator is here.

This is from West Camino Cielo last week. Got to play in the dirt a bit. Now to go back since I've done the CMC and see how we rub, or don't.
