They need to legislate a law that states if you work for an American company, you speak proper fucking English that I, an American citizen, can understand.

I did that a few months ago and it didn't clear it. I should do it again though.

I'm also going to change out my fuel filter.

I used to work for a major data center, we were bought by an Indian company. I couldn't understand most them, even after 5 years of talking to them every day.

They only kept us USA people around to deal with the company/states/cities that had laws like this. Some states actually have laws that say only people on US soil can work on their equipment, but not all of them. Canada has that as a national law, all government servers must be worked on by people living in Canada (Post, law enforcement, etc).

Good to know the information. It makes sense. If a company is gonna try and take my money, I should be able to understand those bastards so I can get the situation figured out.

If you can, escalate the issue to the next tier, sometimes it take 2 jumps up, but eventually you will get someone in the United states. The US service Desk was the escalation for India, they weren't trusted to step away from protocol and make a common sense decision about issues. We were.

It wasn't a big deal. It was about satellite radio and I cancelled and they charged me a month payment which was incorrect. The lady I spoke to got the message across eventually, but it took me 6 times saying "Can you repeat that" to get the full understanding.

They usually get paid based on how good their english is. Ever see that movie Outsourced (they did a Tv show too)? It is spot on! The company that hires them pays them based on how well they speak English and American English, if they are really hard to understand, the company they are representing is super cheap.

Just to give you an idea.. The lady I spoke with about 30 minutes ago was harder to understand than my interpreter in Afghanistan that was from Kabul and has lived there his whole life....
