image.jpg image.jpg I was at the gas station today and while my truck was filling I was walking around looking at my truck. I started to hear what sounded like someone dumping a cooler and it was my truck overflowing. 1) I'm curious if there is anything I could have damaged internally from this happening? 2) I swear I thought I used to have a metal "flapper" covering my fuel hole and now its just the hole. Just trying to see if others could look and see if they have one or not. Now it's driving me crazy. Thanks in advance for the help. I've included a picture of a flapper and one of what mine looks like for people who have no clue what I'm talking about. lol.

I just went and looked, I do not see a flap on my 2015.

I have had gas overflow out of my tank one time on a previous vehicle, went and told the attendant and their response "oh, yeah that pump is messed up"..

I don't think my '08 has a flapper. I had some gas I had for my lawnmower that I didn't want to keep over winter that I put in my truck about a month ago and I was thinking the flapper was gonna keep the gas from going in but I didn't see one

My Beemers have flappers, but Tacomas do not.

BTW, The overflow issue you experienced had nothing to do with not having a flapper... It has to do with the gas pump's nozzle. If properly working nozzles splash back, they'll shut off.

Time will tell. The charcoal canisters in the evap. sys. do not like liquid gasoline. You are probably alright.

I agree with the others for the pump not shutting off... it is the pump handle not the truck.

What could overflowing a gas tank do to our trucks? Happened to me several weeks ago to no ill effect. Was there something I should have done or....?

Yeah that was my main concern to. Just trying to figure out if there is anything I can do to make it better for the evap system. But good to know everyone else doesn't have the "flapper". Thanks everyone.

The evap canister gets soaked and you'll get a CEL and possibly screw something up. I know others can chime it on exactly what happens to the system.

My 2011 doesn't have one. I do have 1 gas station that if I leave in automatic it will overflow. I don't use that one anymore. No issues after it happened 2 times but not going to push my luck.
