Photoshop Fun with TRD Pro Grill

I was hesitant to pay $400 plus for a trd pro when what I really wanted was a Homer Satoshi. After seeing what that's gonna cost me, I had to look at some other options such as spending the 400 and making some changes to the TRD Pro Grill:

Looks like we have allot more material to work with than the factory grill. It might be cheaper to do a Satoshi this route. Looks like we just have to build up those areas circled in yellow. Thoughts?

I think that grill looks pretty damn good to be honest! Definitely upload pictures if that's what you end up doing.

 

I had a hard enough time cutting up a perfectly good $170 insert... No way I'd cut a $400 Pro grille!

 

Wonder how hard it would be to cut out letters and put the BAMF raptor style "TOYOTA" letters ...and make it look RIGHT? Id like to see it without homers mesh just keep factory trd pro bricks if possible. Somebody needs to try this and see how it compares to Knine00 2012 raptor satoshi

 

I'm digging the Pro with the mesh. Looks factory.

 

im noticing how fragile my pro grille is compared to the factory original....
basically if i hit a small bird, the grill is toast. so if that happens ill gladly cut up and modify mine. lol

Something to think about. The more covered the front grill, the better it will protect the radiator from debris. The second image where you have the mesh looks like the custom car grills mesh. If it is, that is a good substantial grill that will stop anything from going through. Aside from an large impact of something like a deer. That's the grill I have and it's very nice.

 

If you end up doing this please keep us updated on the steps by steps. That looks awesome!

Did you already paint your radiator? I've been thinking of doing this but have also read it's not a good idea so I've been holding off for a while.

 

Painting the radiator isn't going to hurt anything. Most radiators come painted from the factory. The only thing you don't won't to do is block off the fins in the radiator so the air can pass through them and allow the heat to escape. Just do a couple passes of black. It doesn't take much. Mines been painted for years.

 

Awesome!!! Will get this done the second I get home. I appreciate the info. Think I should use hi temp paint?

 

I am thinking of just painting the radiator supports and visible white area's.
