I hope we agree That CR does not "endorse " the Taco.
    which you noticed.

Each (performance) category that CR rates trucks and cars, the Taco falls behind large trucks and will the Colorado.
They praise the Taco for it's reliability but it never makes their final recommendations.
I do subscribe and you may too...

I drove both the Colorado and the Canyon SLT. The loaded Canyon had a very nice interior, indeed. Much better than the Colorado I was looking at. If I could not get the Tacoma I wanted, the Canyon SLT was going to be my next choice.

Until you load each to capacity. Don't get me wrong, I love Subarus. But their ground clearance is good.....when compared to other independently sprung cars.

if it makes you feel any better I watched a new colorado need to be pulled out of a tiny bit of mud today as I was sitting at a red light right beside a construction site.

This was just a residential homes subdivision site. I used to drive around them all the time with my jetta when I worked low rise never got stuck. So no clue how this guy managed to. He was being pulled out by a 2nd gen haha. all the other fell sizes that were on the site seemed fine. but regardless no clue how that thing got stuck

Yes, I do feel better. Always comforting to know there's a Tacoma nearby on the pavement if I happen to driving one of the GM twins.

Consumer Reports lists the Colorado/Canyon as two of the least reliable vehicles this year. See the December, 2015 Edition, pages 67-68. Not good at all. No Tacoma Rating yet but you know it is coming. For my thought I do not believe they like this Class of Truck. Just a thought.

One of CR's favorite vehicles is the Camry. I'd rather walk, so many better mid sized choices.
So I keep that in mind, when reading their reviews.

can you elaborate on why they're so terrible?
I've never owned but I've driven them and know a lot of people who own them.

Not something I'd ever buy as its not my type (when it comes to cars I love the Germans) but for reliability I hear they are great.

    Head unit. That's it.
I drove a Camry for about 2 months. It was so boring, and bland. Meh on power/acceleration. Sound system was bleh. Ride was meh.

I now have an Accord that is 3 years older than the Camry, and the ride is much smoother, acceleration is surprising at times, sound is good enough (especially now that I have kids) and the fit and finish of the interior is much better.

Step into a Nissan Maxima, and you wont want to give it back. They are PLUSH.

It's an appliance for people that care nothing about driving. If you've driven a German car or Fusion or Mazda or Chrysler 200 or even a Malibu, you'd notice the poor handling, crappy seats, hideous catfish grille and just general lack of investment in technology.
This used to be excusable when the Camry was more reliable than everything else. All other manufacturers have upped their game on reliability and durability, not a competitive advantage anymore.

Agree with you on the Accord (should have mentioned on my post), but don't like CVT transmissions on Nissans.
