bilistein 5100's

I am about to buy a set of these. What do you guys recommend me setting these at to achieve a level ride. I have the Rear leaf TSB.

1.75 i believe gets the front end pretty well level.

from what ive read on this board the ride isn't effected to badly. but it will be more firm than stock

i suggest you get on the toytec groupbuy and go for option 2.

the eibach springs give you 1.6" of lift at the 5100 '0' setting
it would be a much smoother ride than running the stock springs at the '1.75' setting.

 

TSB , 5100s at .85 , 265/75R16 goodyear wrangler Duratracs

After the the tsb my back was 1.5 inches above stock. About a week later when i installed the 5100 i re-measured the back and it was only 1 inch above stock. So hence i set the 5100s to .85. It keep it preatty much stock, only about a inch higher. After the 5100s, i got the Duratracs and had the truck aligned. Have had no vibrations or rubbing issues.

 

5100 at 1.75, Rear TSB spring. I think it's pretty level but I have fiberglass bed cover.

I can't compare the ride to the Bilstein TRD shocks since I only had them for a week and then changed to 5100. Comparing to the black/non-trd shocks (before TSB), the ride is stiffer but I think it's way better. The pre-load lessened front dive.

 

Had them before I got my Icons. I've tried them at 1.75 and later at 2.5. Trust me you want them at 1.75. It's a pretty harsh ride at 2.5. You best be getting some bigger tires to mellow out the little bumps if you want to jack it up that high.

But how is the ride? is it as harsh as the guy above your post says?

 

Mine is smooth as butter dude. I've had no issues on or off road.


It was a little bit more stiff on my 265/75/16 BFG A/Ts, but with the 285/75/16 BFG M/T KM2s it's beautiful.

 

Ah man, now you have me a little concerned. I was going to go with the 2.5 setting. I'm not going to go with the 285/75/16, just going to keep my 265/75/16's

Yeah, it's a little stiff, but it feels more like a truck.

 

1.75 worked great for me !!!! my 96 taco is level now and rides good too !!!!

 

This is what I don't get about lifts...

They are the same lifts on the same trucks and people are getting results???

Is the ride smooth or harsh? This is what's holding me back from pulling the trigger.

Also, would it look stupid to wear 265/65/17 tires with them at 2.5"?

 

People have different levels of comfort. What might feel too stiff to you might be just right to me. Main reason I have yet to purchase anything to lift with yet.

 

here is my .02. I am going to be doing the TSB in the rear and getting 5100 and setting them at 1.75 in the front. I will be changing out my stock tires for BFG AT 265/70R17.

I realize I could probably go with a bigger tire but I really dont want to lose any power. And I'm not interested in re-gearing the thing.

 

I got great results with this set up.No worries on other suspension and steering components and keeps the cost @ minimum.

 

How much trimming did ya have to do with the 285's and that setup?

 

5100's @ 1.75" with TSB rear springs, still just about 1/2" higher in the rear but the ride is great.
