I'm 6' with a pretty long torso (30-32 inseam). I have just enough head room to not notice it at all.

If the moonroof was just a bit wider Id have tons of room ;)

Hey everyone, I'm John and new to the forum. I work at a Toyota dealership in Phoenix and just bought a 2016 which is my 8th Tacoma (if we are counting Toyota's 8100 series, before they called them Tacomas) I've had only one instance that the sunroof was an issue and the customer couldn't fit comfortably. He is 6'4" and tall from the waist up. He was super disappointed but we ended up selling him a Tundra. I hope this is helpful as far as height issues/moonroof options go. I'm 5'8" and I don't have any issues with fitting comfortably with the moonroof option but I've never a height issue in vehicles

I can confirm at 6'4" I touch the headliner with a moonroof optioned Tacoma. I agree if it was a little wider it would not be an issue, but with the headliner lowered to compensate for the sliding cover its just too low. Very disappointed. Maybe just lean the seat back more. I really wish you could lower the seating position.

I'm 5'10.5", and ALL TORSO (29-30" inseam). The headroom sucks with that stupid moonroof. I had to have the prem/tech package, and dreaded that I would hate the moonroof. And yep, I do hate it. If I recline a bit, and sit normally, I'm about 1" from hitting the roof. So then if I do something like reach back for the seat belt, turn around to look through the rear window, etc - well, my hair actually hits the roof because I rise up slightly to do those things. And I have military 1/2" type short hair cut! It's really annoying. I drive by guys in F150s who are wearing full-on cowboy hats and still have 3" of clearance above their heads.

The fact that you can't adjust the seat height is hands down the most ridiculous thing I've seen. Other than the headroom, I love everything else about this truck. I do a lot of hobbyist welding (building up Jeeps, etc). So I've been scoping out how to modify the seat to lower it. And I think I have a plan. I think I can get a good 1.5-2" of additional room by cutting and rewelding lower, the main seat rails. What a PITA though.

Make me one! This could be a very lucrative opportunity for aftermarket. We can't be the only ones who want the tech package but the moonroof is in the way. I am going to sit in one again before placing my order and adjust the seat to see if I can live with it. Tech package or no tech package is where I am at right now.

Ok safe to say if you are less than 6'4" or don't have a freakishly long torso the moonroof is not an issue. I have the moonroof - I was concerned by the multiple comments on 'watch out for the headroom with the moonroof'. I am 6' and average torso and sit like a preacher...plenty of headroom, in fact wish I was a little closer to enjoy the sunshine and breeze coming thru. Myth busted

I just road in the back of my '16 with the moonroof..... The ceiling was dropped 2 1/2 to 3" to accommodate the moonroof.... When sitting back, I have enough headroom, but lean forward and I hit the lowered roof.. (I leaned ahead to talk to the front passenger and "bonk"...

I never even noticed the roof drop there cuz of the interior being all black...it does not show up well...

Confirmed, I test drove a TRD off road with JBL.

I'm 6'2. If I would hit a jump, my head will hit and I'll probably snap my neck. I get 2" of head room.

So that, the practicality of almost never using the sunroof, and the fact that the JBL sounds like shit is why I'm getting the base model Tacoma TRD Sport. If I find it impossible to find the exact one, I guess I'll have to settle for one of those.

Im disappointed but not surprised that this truck has upgrades that aren't really that great in my own opinion. But I understand that car manufacturing is competitive and you have to please different people.

    5'11 with good posture.

I measured and there are two inches of clearance from the top of my head to the moonroof/sunroof.

The sunroof has a cushion area around it that drops down about a half inch all the way around it. I guess this is for tall drivers so they don't smack their heads

Sunroof is a nice upgrade. I just about always have the shade pulled back and the glass tilted.

Seat height adjustment would solve the problem.

JBL sound great compared to stock. Need to drive the truck around for a while, a two-mile test drive doesn't tell you shit.

I didn't check if it had a cussing on top but I did touch it and it was soft. don't know how deep the cushion is till you hit solid metal/plastic.

I agree seat height adjustment would solve the problem.

On the JBL, maybe it sounds way better than stock. Maybe I thought it was shit compared to my aftermarket stereo system... I run Rockford Fosgate speakers and a Kenwood head unit.

    Here's the catch.
When I test drove the truck, the asshole salesman was giving me shit about how the truck is new and that it was expensive. Until my friend who was with me told him that we pay cash, don't trip. After that, shit was just rolling down hill. Haha. Anyway, I didn't have enough time with the JBL audio to listen to it.

Has anyone solved the head clearance issue with Moo roofs/ sunroofs on the Tacoma’s?? I’m tired of my head rubbing on the ceiling Im 6’2” and i agree if the sunroof was wider I’d have no issue
