I thought about doing this last year but the weekend vs the weekend with camping price wasn't enough to justify the difference. I think it is only a $50 difference. If you camp in the open camping on forest land you will save that money but BLM, Forest Service Campgrounds, or State Parks are going to range from $10-25 a night. There seems to be quite a bit of open land though in the area. I never looked into what was open for dispersed camping.

I may be camping in the Expo this year cause my truck will be in the Avid booth. This is all depending on whether Brandon gets the booth or not though.

If I buy a TopRac for my shell, It will probably be around that time. Mind if I skip shipping and just pick it up from you while you are there?

Last Year was cold and wet. The year befor was dry and a dust storm.
Price for thurs-sunday is around $100. You get general camping and the party with the raffle and giveaways on fri or saturday night.
Best part is just meeting people and interacting.

Mormon lake is an old lake bed that cracked and is dry now. The ground get can very dusty(a la 2014) .Last year they actually had water trucks planned to mitigate the dust storms, BUT the opposite occurred 2015. Tons O mud. We started off cool and damp thursday with temps in the 50's and 60's. Friday and Saturday got progressively colder and wet and finally 2" snow fri night, with temps in the 20's. By Sunday 50ish percent of the people left and the die hards basked in the 60 degree sun and we had good beers and uncrowded lines at the final BBQ dinner that came with tickets.

Best part is the people. Met a great crew of people and got invited to an epic overland out of ST George Utah and to the grand canyon. One guy ,Greg, was a professional drone pilot and got amazing HD footage of the whole trip. (ill try to post when there is a chance).
Other guy was 20 year army vet , Marty with his dad Marty (same name not junior?? dont ask) with a new rubicon unlimited STOCK !and pulled people out of the mud all weekend. After seeing him im convinced our next 2nd vehicle is a new jeep (of course im keeping the taco). He was laughing his ass off watching all the $250K Earthroamers having to be towed out of the mud.

Overall it can be a great time with like minded people. The coolest part was the expo camp was the cleanest i have ever left (Overlanding moto of keeping it clean/tread lightly etc.) in the issue of trash. I have seen expos that are all earthy hippy like and people just leave trash everywhere.

    Hope you all go .

BTW. The Taco with 285 duratracs on my 05 DCLB sport handled the mud great.

Only if it turns into a mud hole again. I only had to lock because of the shit tires. That mud just wouldn't clean from the tread and I couldn't go in a straight line. I didn't want to hit anyone so I locked it up.
