This is my 2nd Toyota. I bought a new 4runner back in 1988 and put over 300,000 on it. I'm sure with regular oil changes every 3,000 miles this one will take me a long ways too. There are issues with any vehicle, but these trucks are built to last, and come time for re-sale they hold their value. Don't forget the amount of parts that go into these, and the upgrades that are offered now including all the safety features. I read alot of complaining about things that might be an issue with a luxury car, but these are trucks and a squeak or rattle here or there just adds class. I haven't seen much of a rust problem under my truck so far in the 3 years I've had it. I hope you get your problems resolved, and put many miles on your Yota in the future...good luck!:)

I have an '05 bought it on Nov. '04. No complaints that Toyota didn't fix.

And oh, I think my interior still looks and smells brand new. You may have abused your truck so much.

That would be an excellent feature! I had an explorer sport trac with no carpet, just rubber floor an it was awesome not having to worry about dumping coffee, pop, or mud.

I've owned a 1st gen tacoma that I bought used with 60K miles on it. I owned it for 5 years and I wheeled the snot out of that thing. After 5 years, I sold it with 110K miles on it. That truck was a tank and was soooo very reliable.

With that being said - Yes, I can agree Toyota's quality has slipped. These new trucks ARE NOT nearly as 'heavy duty' as the 1st gen trucks. It's a damn shame the 1st gen trucks had the frame rust issue.

The new trucks feel 'petite' compared to the first gen trucks. But I still love mine and hope & pray to god that it'll last for atleast 10 years or until I wanna get a new one. :D

Weathertechs, personally fabricated tailgate lock, tint, extra D rings, Exactfit seatcovers, re-enforcing the tailgate and adding a leaf next week.
I didn't know a whole lot about the 2nd generation trucks when I bought this one. Seems pretty comparable to my '96, though. Actually, everyday I drive it, another similarity kind of jumps out at me. Oh, sure, there are some cosmetic things I would change on this truck (cloth arm rests on the doors, carpet on floors), but none of it is a big deal. After what I went through with my last two trucks, I just want reliability. Nothing fancy, no frills, less to break. That's why I didn't get a 4x4. I just got out of loaded Harley Davidson edition F250 that would turn every head in town, and would also need every mechanic in town. Some fool paid over 50k for that truck new. For longevity and value, I bet on the Toyota, and I don't think I will be disappointed. It's not like I didn't ever have any issues on my '96 Tacoma. Cat converter, oxygen sensors. But nothing major that kept it off the road for so much as one day. As the old saying goes, if it has tits or wheels, it's going to cause you problems. If you are that unhappy, trade it. Just remember, the grass ain't always greener.

60k on my truck and not one single issue. Only thing replaced was my tires at 38k. Couldn't ask for a better truck. I tow a lot and had the brakes checked about 10k ago they weren't even half worn. I'm really happy with the quality. Go buy something else and then talk about quality!

My truck isn't perfect, but after 12,000 miles and zero problems I'm happy. Also, the resale value is unbelievable, especially in this economy.

I've also heard that in rare cases it can cause one ball to swell and the other shrink. Not to mention what it does to your sack.
