I live in Venice California. Last week I brought my 2015 down to Marina Del Ray Toyota just curious to look at the new 2016's after a few days of back and forth I ended up getting trading in my 2015 for a 2016 for 0 down and same monthly payment as my 2015. They even got me the truck I wanted from another dealership. I was given over MSRP for my 2015 and got the 2016 for under MSRP. Very happy with the dealership experience.

 

*Update: Anjelica at Toyota of Pasadena is a no-go. She said because of demand and lack inventory allotted to them they are temporarily stopping special orders. She said she can deal somewhat on trucks available on the lot ($500-$800 off MSRP). She seems very nice though.

so Greg wouldn't order over the phone? what other dealerships have you tried? two trips might not make it worth it anymore.

 

Yeah he said the policy is that at least one of us (me or my wife) has to come in to order. We both have to be there when we pick it up. I was hoping I'd only have to make one trip but oh well...

And I tried A LOT of dealerships. I think I had all of SoCal covered (San Diego, Orange County, LA, Inland Empire, High Desert) as well as north as far as Bakersfield and Visalia. Of course not all of them responded. I went to each website and emailed the internet director, fleet manager or general sales manager. For what it's worth, Bill from South Coast Toyota (Costa Mesa) said he would sell me one for $1000 over invoice but he stopped returning emails over the last few days.

 

I spoke with a friend in a fleet department and I have decided to wait longer to purchase or order truck. 7568 is looking to be 14 to 18 weeks out, no matter where you order in the state.

 

How valuable is your time? Larry H Miller Toyota in Corona have me approx. $1,100 over invoice and $1,100 under MSRP through AMEX True C A R. That was even after including $250 to transfer the truck up from Chula Vista.

I just emailed a shit ton of dealerships and some guy, somewhere found me a 7568 coming down the pipe. I don't think it was allocated to him but he said he could try to get it

This is true. Greg in Merced said the same thing today. He said it in a general way though that seemed to imply ALL special orders might be taking this long, not just the 7568. I don't want to wait that long but I'm going to for the perfect truck. Bad thing is that because of the wait I decided we can save up a bit more for the down payment so I added on the JBL tech package which I wasn't originally going to do... $36K and change plus TTL for TRD DC OR, 4X4, LB, Auto, JBL tech package, tow package, quicksand

Anyway, put some miles on the other car today, and Greg is a good dude. About the easiest car deal I've ever done (other than the drive). A couple of tidbits:

1) they do add TDA to the invoice price (about $600) - you can probably dicker on this, I didn't because I'm getting the exact truck I want for almost $3000 less than anyone else I talked to could get it for me (South Coast Toyota dude who said $1000 over invoice still hasn't replied to me - must not be that anxious to do any deals)

2) Greg asked me to spread the word and re-validate that the deal is legit

3) took a total of 10 minutes to do (well, 15 if you count the trip to pee - long drive & coffee you know)

 

I talked to South coast Toyota, too. Not sure if they have responded or what we are talking about yet.

I have a few offers to order. I didn't shop Gregs deal. I have been offered about 600 over invoice so far
