That's a awesome truck! That was my close second choice! I hope it has dual pipes though, that's like 1 1/2" exhaust!

You found one for sale!? I wish Toyota offered the 6.5' bed. I'll probably end up settling on the crewmax but wish it had a bigger bed.

Yeah that would be a life goal to get it with the supercharger and long travel it. It'd be fun to compare it to your truck at that point.

I have an opportunity to move to Anchorage... it's a pretty decent jump in pay. I've never lived in a city that big, and don't really want to. The question is how horrible is the commute from Palmer/Wasilla? I'm not worried about me, all of my rigs are set up for winter driving (the town I grew up in actually has a much more sever climate than much of SE Alaska) but with no alternative routes I can imagine the Glenn gets fubar in a hurry when someone wads it up. What say you natives? Also I work for the weather service and would be commuting to the south end of the airport if that makes a difference. I'm hoping to find a place with a detached garage/small shop, enough room for the toys, and far enough out I can ride four wheelers/sleds/ dirtbikes without trailering them for hours. I know, it's completely unrealistic in the Anchorage area, just want to know what the locals think.

commute coming in to Anchorage gets pretty backed up in the mornings. We have a decent chunk of Air Force guys on here that can probably give you a better idea of how backed up it gets. Our "rush hour traffic" really doesn't compare to anything in the states though from what I've seen, although an accident that blocks a lane really does slow things down.

As far as living, the palmer/wasilla area sounds like a good fit for you, but I'd say its definitely still possible in Anchorage. From my place in south anchorage it takes less than an hour to get to Jim's creek which is where I and many other people take the dirt bikes and 4-wheelers. A bit past wasilla/palmer and then theres Sutton and Kings river which are more good places for toys. So from anchorage they wouldn't be super close, but not multiple hours away.

That said, in palmer/wasilla you wouldn't have to trailer your toys for any length of period at all if you didn't want to considering theres a trail that runs along side the highway for freaking ever haha

Thanks man. I suppose dragging the toys out on the weekend is easier than commuting 5 times a week too. Are there any areas of Anchorage to avoid? If I do take the job I'll probably rent for a bit until we really get the pulse for city life, but we'll see. Housing costs are retarded compared to here, and even with the jump in pay I haven't decided if it's worth it. I do like the prospect of better fishing and hunting though... here I normally fish for eight hours per salmon, and it took me three years to kill a deer with my bow (rifle hunting tags are lottery based, you get one every 3-4 years but can buy bow tags over the counter).

Muldoon, mt view and govt hill I would try to avoid. There are however decent areas on Muldoon but I'd say the farther you go from jber the nicer it will get
