    Thanks
Im actually going to use two 20 ton air hydro bottle jacks. There is also going to be a pc of s6x12.5 beam that rests on top of the punch to spread the load out.

Nice. Are they easier to regulate than the hydraulic units? The shop I used to work at had a hydraulic unit and it was a pain for doing delicate presswork.
That and most of my techs were monkeys, so...

Yeah they're quite a bit slower than a typical hydraulic ram. You can just blip the trigger or use the lever to lower the punch just a hair if needed. Here's a pic of my smaller finger brake with a single 20t jack in there.

Question for you welders, just picked up a new truck with one spot rusted out of the frame in front of the leaf hanger bracket. Pic posted for reference of what I'm talking about. Best approach to patching this? Cut out all the bad and weld new stuff in? Just throwing it around haven't taken it to any welding buddies yet haha. Holes only about 2" long and the hanger metal appears to not be effect as bad as the rest.

That explains the resemblance, then, haha!

I considered one a while ago, but I was looking at it on their display floor at the local store and realized that it wasn't even close to square. Figured I'd wait until somebody bought it and they got a new one. That was a year ago...

Once you start on your rust repair I venture you will find more spots that need done.

I have special pieces custom bent that go across the Top of the frame and down one side . or across the bottom and one side always getting solid metal on the top .

I use these pieces once as much rust as possible is removed always going several inches past any bad spots .

In the case where the frame is in two or more pieces I make a new frame rail for both sides .

This is not cheap so it is a call only the owner can make.

Anything can be saved but being cost effective is something else.

I was fixing these trucks before the recall!!

Rest of the frame has since been cleaned and sprayed, this spot is literally the only bad spot. Rest of it was weirdly fine along the lines of what I had in mind just wanted another opinion on it since metal work is not my expertise at all

You probably already did this, but definitely check that same spot on the opposite side. That's where the frame on my '99 pooched.

    Yep that's what they're for!
Having those plates cut with slotted holes for plug welds made it real easy to assemble and looks clean.
If anyone ever wants the cad file for the plates and I beam cuts just let me know.

That's cut down? Jesus, how big was your hood before hand?

Practising my Oxyfuel cutting. Wasn't moving as fast as I should have been on a few of those, whoops. However when it does work, I'm amazed how well and how thin the kerf is with this. (Oxy 10psi Propane 5psi size 0 tip)
