Look into King, Icon and Fox coil overs if you don't mind spending more. One of those with uniballs UCA's is a very good option for the front. As for the rear do a full spring pack like the Dakar springs or all pro springs. Blocks just increase axle wrap and your stock springs are already terrible. And of course matching shocks for the rear

Lol dude he's looking at Billy's and Rough Country.
Get either an OME kit or Bilsteins with eibach coils and an AAL for the rear. That will be a good setup. Just try to stray away from spacers...

Yes but he also said he wouldn't mind paying more if it makes the ride a night and day difference :)

    Shit on a black truck.
Im also looking for what is needed as opposed to overpaying for stuff I dont need. I figure Im only going to buy once so I dont mind spending a little more but not looking for a $5000 setup.

My front setup with King coil overs and desert racing uniball uppers was $1950. The back with Dakar leafs, extended break lines and normal shocks would be about $1300ish, possibly more depending on which rear shocks. I went further and did a shock relocation and longer rear shocks b

For your usage, go with an OME setup with dakar rear spring pack ( ). You will also need upper control arms. The current lead choices I'm aware of are JBA and Built Right. might be worthy, but I really haven't read up. That's around $1,600. You would also need u-bolts and extended brake lines for the rear.
    - I would not advise Light Racing upper control arms. I don't think they are as good as the newer offerings
    - You don't really need extended brake lines for the front. It may be good to have a VERY slight extension, but it would be very minor. I only changed because they came as a set.
    - The leaf pack is something you will want to do, even though it adds a significant cost. Toyota has had continued issues with their stock leafs, and you'll eventually get the saggy butt effect. You can opt for deaver or All-Pro as well, but the kit above is a nice one-stop-shop.
The OME kit is a good performer that will work as probably the best budget build, and be a solid performer offroad. You should see them last for 50k miles of abuse before needing shock and strut replacement.

The next step is a mighty price step, and that leads to the Icon, King, and ADS choices. The front end will start you at $1,400 alone, without upper control arms. The benefit is added ride height tweaking, a large boost in offroad manners and comfort, and you can go so far as to do custom valving. They also allow you to rebuild the shocks instead of needing full replacement.

I jumped up to King just last year, but that's only after I completely wore out my OME setup and realizing I do a lot heavier offroading than I originally intended. My OME were in no ways bad, but the King do not disappoint in bringing "the next level".

My OME were perfectly comfortable on-road, did admirably offroad, and should suit you just fine for what you are intending. I would not listen to people who are tempting you to over-buy, unless you truly are going to do more than what you told us above.

Man; I'm stoked to be getting back South to the lower 48...

Just bought some goodies for my Moab trip off of the FrontRunner website - seems like they make some quality stuff. Ordered a new plastic Jerry Can (water), and some LED 12 Volt stripping for my bed from Amazon.

Very tempted to make the jump to a coilover setup - but I'm sure that mine will be fine for at least one more Moab trip.

How much did you pay for the water jerry can? I know of a place in seattle to get the specter water cans from $25-30 and the fuel cans for $60.

Huh... That's about $10 less than what I paid. I may be interested in a scepter gas can. The cheapo steel ones that I have are pretty much crap now.

I just don't get why you would literally drag your jeep through the mud, especially when there's no hope of making it in the first place. Try an obstacle with a possibility of success.

So i decided to just tackle this lift project on my own. Took me 7 hours but everything turned out good! The UCA's were the hardest part. Overall the ride is way better from stock.

Good work, that how most of us learn, by jumping in and doing.

Doesn't look like you had to butcher the fender wall too bad removing the UCA bolt.

Big progress on my rig, just got it back from my buddy with new shock relocation hoops installed and the new rear Kings on. It's a little stiff riding but there is no weight in the back either, not even a spare. Just need to install bump stops, paint the rearend, replace the exhaust, and secure the brake hard lines and wheel speed sensor cables. After this I want to replace the super lift brand leaf springs and stock rear spring hangers. The springs are crazy stiff and when trying to flex it out, the rear shackle binds and limits a ton of travel. Drove it about an hour today, the most it's been driven in just over a year, forgot how much I love this truck!
