    This statement causes so much internal conflict for me. I agree 100000% with you but I know why some of them do it. Legal liability. If they are rear ended and get pushed into someone else....they are at fault for that particular experience. So...some of the people you see doing this most likely have been educated on liability or they have actual experience of that bullshit.

    I got my Smith certificate when I worked for the city of Austin. That became mandatory after some city workers had a rash of accidents. It's a pretty good course, but saying "sniper on the left" got pretty old and weird when no one actually shot at us.

    I agree with this. In my area it is not only the first in line, everyone behind stops 30-40 feet from person in front of them. Almost 100% of the time people are staring at their phones screens and using their peripheral vision to judge where to stop as they pull up. I see this every morning on my way to work, and almost every afternoon on my way home.

    And every time they slowly pull up while the light is red, leaving a huge space in front of me in which I have to close the gap or get honked at. It is worse because all my vehicles are manuals. I am not of those "stick shift or die" folks, but I feel like I am more attuned to what other drivers are doing, mainly because THEY are the ones wearing out my clutch by determining what gear I should be in because they are not paying attention.
