Has anyone begun to use any sort of headlight lens protection to keep their headlights from oxidizing? I'm not familiar with any products that exist for prevention, but I've seen plenty for restoration. My headlamps are new and I would prefer to keep them looking new for a long time. Any advice is appreciated.

Do not use wax! It makes them a mess. Maybe a super thin coat of sealant?

Meguiar's M105 and M205 professional polishes makes them nice and shiny. It's just about the same as waxing, as far as effort. Once or twice a year would probably be enough for most people.

If you keep them clean then how are they gonna oxidize?

I simply hand buff mine with Mother's magnesium and chrome wheel polish a few times a year. The headlights stay looking as new. It comes as a paste in a small white tub. I saw this on a Mother's Tech segment on a car show years ago. About a year later they came out with the headlight restore kit, which is the same shite watered down in a different bottle at 3 times the price.

Unless you're only driving at night and keep your vehicle garaged all day oxidation is inevitable. The UV Rays will break down the plastic and this starts almost instantly so by the time you see it it's usually to late. Think of a sun burn. Your skin is getting fried from the UV Rays the minute you walk out the door but you don't notice it until you're actually sun burned.

For years the only UV protector I have found that works is 303. I bought a seaward kayak years ago and the recomended cleaning included a coat of 303. I think Cessna also recommends it for the plastic windows on the plans , or it was the macanic? Can't remember.

But it works. 10 years on and the kayak looks like new.

Can't read the second article because customer sales rep Trisha keeps popping up for headlight restoration service. I did read the 1st article. But thanks.

    THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

303 is a must have for Tupperware (Wipe New if faded) There are a variety of UV protectors as well on the market. But 303 is proven in the worst situations Like boats, RVs, Vinyl Tonneaus

I clean them with some invisible glass cleaner then give them a coat of turtle wax ice paste it can be used on all exterior surfaces including plastics. I have one aftermarket headlight on my Sonoma that has oxidation. I buff it with some m205 then m105 and finish with a coat of turtle wax ice it usually lasts 2-3 months before having to do the whole process again. My vehicles are not garaged btw.

I got mine at an autozone. But all autozones don't always have it.
