PLEASE lets keep this on topic :)

I experienced the low oil pressure waring light briefly today while stopped on the hill shown in the photo.

Has any other '16 owner experienced this and have you received solid info from your dealer technician as to why?

Was it low oil pressure or low oil level?

Saw in another thread that it was oil level and wound up being "ok" per the owners manual

Glad you asked! It may have been low level. I forget if it said pressure or level but do remember it saying to check the level so I am guessing it was low level.
As soon as I saw the warning I started back down the hill to get it to turn off.

The owners manual states that the Low Oil Level Light can turn on when you are on a steep hill, and to get it to turn off, you simply drive to flat ground like you did. It's just based on where the sensor is, and if the hill is steep enough, the sensor is going to think the engine is low on oil because all of the oil is on the opposite side of the pan.

Mike, just to keep the vultures from going crazy you may want to mod the title of the thread since you seem to not be sure it was a low oil pressure light.

is the pick up being fed oil when this light is on, or is the pick up dry?

Mike, holy turds, did you drive up that hill?

Subscribed! He probably drove up the other side, but it's still an awesome pic.

Yes I went up and down that hill.

Got stuck on this one. Had full air pressure and was not locked. Deep loose gravel/dirt. I had to keep my foot on the brake while others aired my tires down.

Is that in Rio Verde near Needle Rock? The hills look identical!

I've heard iffy stuff about oil pressure warning/lights. Apparently the pressure the pump produces pumping air through the system can be enough to keep the light off, so there can be situations where once the light comes on its too late and the engine is pretty much trashed. Saw this a lot with Isuzus, because their late V6 motors burned oil and people would drive them without checking the oil level. Light would come on and the motor had already eaten through a bearing. But I'm not sure how the isuzu spec/system compares to toyota or if they're even comparable. Just food for thought.
