The Snap-on guy got a tea cup something or other. It can't be more than about 5#. Riley hauled some ass into the truck to see him. OMG. He loves that dog and it's hilarious. 110# vs. 5...

Any one have a dog that has been diagnosed with lymphoma? If so what did you do for treatment?

Our 7 year old boxer was just diagnosed with it. The hardest part is he seems to be healthy as a horse.

:( Sorry Adam. Ollie was, but it was too late to do anything for her. Doc said chemo was good and most tolerated it well.

Yeah, but the price tag is ridiculous for chemo. The initial visit is $600, not including the treatment.

Only other option was steroids, but that wasn't a cure - don't remember what they would have done. I know it wouldn't have been cheap, but I found her's way too late :pout:

I am so sorry to hear this also. No experience with it in dogs however my youngest son who just turned 25 was diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 Lymphoma in January. He finished his last round of chemo 5 weeks ago. Next week on the 11th he has a PET scan in the morning, hem\onc doc at noon and they already scheduled him for another 12 chemo sessions starting that afternoon. Hope like hell he doesn't have to do it again, don't think I would if it was me. He has gone from a 40% chance of living to 80% though it has come at a steep price with the side effects of chemo. And yeah the chemo is expensive but I am lucky that I have a Cadillac medical plan and work at the number 1 ranked hospital in the US. Pretty sure I couldn't cover chemo for the dog out of pocket.

I am one of the first to get upset when someone says it just a dog. But there is real life and finances to be considered, yeah chemo isn't cheap. The side effects can be rough my son has spent at least 2 months on and off in ICU since January for various reasons. IF it was my pup who isn't quite 1 year old yet and I could afford it might consider it but would be a struggle mentally for me. My oldest dog is 12 and no I would not do it for him. Half way in the middle.... rough call I don't envy you. But don't think I would put the dog through it. People can talk to you and tell you what it is like, dogs not as much.

The steroids help with the pain of the cancer and if your getting chemo you get steroids for a few days right after to help with that too. You can only take them for a few days in a row unless it is terminal. My son begs for them when they stop giving them to him, they are very effective. I wish you the best out of this no matter what you decide, good luck and don't let anyone pressure you either way. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

I wish the best for you and your son. It's hard enough with a dog, I can't imagine what it's like for you.

I'm stuck in the middle of "its just a dog" and it's a family member. He is very much part of the family, but I don't think we are going to put him through the chemo. It's too expensive and he doesn't need to suffer through that.
