I can't leave this weather. And schools in California pay better based on cola than most places in the rest of the country.

 

And the cost of homes, taxes and regulations more than eats up all the extra money. I have a cop living down the street from me in a nice 1700 SF house with two kids making $35K and he is very comfortable. His mortgage with taxes is $720 a month. Teachers make the same and can afford homes easily. Both Honorable professions.

I used to live in San Diego 18 years..... The beaches here are just as nice (Water is a lot warmer) No smoggy Santa Anas, taxes, housing costs, nanny laws and traffic. The weather is nice all year as well. Albeit humid. But no water problems....(well maybe too much lately)

Everything costs more out there. Its like the north where I grew up. Cops and teachers make $70K a year and can barely buy a home and then pay $12,000 a year in property taxes, have to have three cans for their trash, and the toll roads and bridges are everywhere. It's no wonder they retire and move south. It's not the weather they are leaving.

..Florida has too many bugs and is too flat......I have no interest in Florida. ...I can handle storms hurricanes even, I cannot handle not being able to use water as much as I want for whatever I want. Hell I have water on my property.

One dealer has a few of the configuration i want and are participating costco dealers but its still 1,700 over invoice. It has floor mats and wheel locks i dont really want, but thats not a deal breaker. The price is. Ill only pay invoice or very close to it. My 2nd gen just turned 290k and still kickin

 

Yea. I am cool with it. Ive waited a very long time for other products. We are talking years. In fact i am still on wait lists for 2 other products i preordered jan 2014

I got an ok deal on my 2016 that I finally put a deposit on last week. It will be built next week. My dealer charged me 300 over invoice, but stuck me with a 700 TDA fee on top of that. I should have fought them more to not pay the TDA. However, I have spend so much time working with my dealer to find the truck I wanted that I just gave up on arguing. I guess in the end I am paying 1,000 over invoice and that includes TDA.

Even with paying the TDA I am happy with the price I got on a DCSB TRDOR V6 M/T in Quicksand. $32,400 was the final price (33,884 MSRP 31,398 invoice) and it did not seem out of line. Not a steal but fair I think. The same truck in a 2015 was about 31,200 at the same dealer so an additional 1,200 for a 16 seemed reasonable. Who knows, maybe I got screwed at that price. I don't have the time to go through all 48 pages of this thread to compare so I guess my deal is what it is.
