I understand the the TDA fee is a legit fee, but just wondering if it is the same or different for different models - eg would the TDA be the same for a sport and off-road equally equipped with the exact same MSRP and same Invoice at the same dealership? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Never heard of TDA......SouthEast Toyota has no TDA fee. Just Invoice plus port adds that match the invoice sheet attached. If is there the dealers are not adding it. Might be hidden in the Invoice price. When people get used to paying extra (think "Doc Fee" that used to be real DMV fees) They will add all kinds of things ti the price then claim people are buying at Invoice......not if they are being charged with TDA and Doc Fees..those fees can put a truck price above MSRP

My understanding is they include TDA (Toyota Dealer Advertising) fees in the invoice price - it's usually not listed separately.

Most California dealers list that they paid Toyota for a TDA fee. It's around 605-611 in socal from what I have seen. Some dealers don't charge it, though. so idk

    Here's an example:

If I build a truck according to the master price list (2016 TRD Sport AC AT with Prem&tech and tow pkgs), the invoice price is $33,690. Talking with a local dealer, she said her invoice price is $34,150.27 and the difference is the TDA fees.

Basically, I'm wondering if I change to the OR model, does the TDA change?

I have already ordered my OR at another dealer, so I don't feel comfortable going back to the local dealer to ask - because I already let them know I ordered from someone else who gave me a better deal.

    Edit: this is in Colorado

That is the way its done here. I used the master price sheet to price my truck with delivery and add $500. Invoice matched the attach price list. Is TDA in there? I don't know and didn't care as I accepted that price list as real Invoice pricing

This was my deal 2WD TRD Sport with FP JBL Towing Tint and Dealer Mop and glo...No TDA anywhere.....

    Thanks.

My guess is - if you were to see it anywhere, it would be shown on the dealer invoice. Seems like most dealers would be willing to show this invoice, but unless you ask, you probably won't see it.

The reason I'm asking is I have a deposit down on an order, but the dealership told me they can't give me an exact price until it's built - and said something about needing to find out what the TDA will be. They originally wanted a non-refundable deposit, but who in their right mind would pay a non-refundable deposit on something they don't have an exact price for? I got them to take a fully refundable deposit once they gave me a estimated price (that was probably higher than it would end up being) on almost the same build from someone else. This dealership doesn't work on commission - they are what they call a "best price" dealership - they give you a price and you take it or leave it. The estimate looked good, but I don't understand why the TDA might be different from what the similar build was.

Just trying to figure out if they are trying to finagle more money out of me. I guess in the end, the estimate they gave me looked good, and I can get my deposit back if needed - so maybe it doesn't really matter?

Yes, it stands for"Toyota Dealer Advertsing". From the time I have been here ( 6 years) this is what I have understood TDA to be. In each region, there is a dealer advertising plan for all dealers. For example in the phoenix area we have a website (http://www.phoenix.buyatoyota.com/en/) and lots of radio and commercial advertising for ALL valley dealers. It does not advertise one dealer over the other, just all dealers. At the beginning of each quater the region gets together decides on the budget for advertising, the dealer fronts their share of the advertising budget, then is given the chance to get earned back by having it charged to the units allocated throughout the quarter.

So if a dealer tells me that he has to wait for the actual build to begin to know what the TDA is... he is mistaken? Wondering now if he meant holdback instead of TDA - but he should know the holdback without having to have the build in process. I think I'll have to give him a call on Monday to get this all straightened out.

    Thanks for the info everyone!

he is incorrect, the moment the allocated units hit inventory, we know holdback and TDA.

Thank you for shedding light on this. I have never read a good response to this matter. Our TDA in the Greater Los Angeles Region is 605-611. Good to know!

Thanks so much for the offer. I will take you up on it when I get it. I was told last Monday that they have it allocated and will let me know when they have more details (order placed on 10-8). Still no exact price and no info on expected dates. Kinda feel like I'm getting the runaround. If this falls through, I may just contact you about a purchase. I can get a friend to fly me down to pick it up! :plane:

Youre welcome. Just as a heads up, if it is allocated, then they have a temp vin. I am not sure why they have not given that to you, nor why they havent given you a v-spec. What is it that you a deposit on ?

Sorry to be a pain, but does TDA differ between models? For instance: TRD OR & TRD SPORT - same options/same invoice/same MSRP?

you should be asking if the TDA varies by price. Is the TDA the same for a 20k truck as it is a for 30k truck?

MGM TRD OR AC AT V6 with Prem/Tech(no JBL) and Tow - nothing else.
I'll give them a shout Monday to try to clarify. After waiting almost a month, I don't really want to start the wait over, but I am keeping that option open.

No it varies. It's base off the price of the unit. I haven't been able to calculate a percentage yet.
