Has anyone heard anything about an oem remote start system from toyota yet?

My dealer is willing to put in an aftermarket one but I'd rather have oem.

Yeah well when I get called into work at 2am and it's 10° out I like to warm up my truck.

Plus it's better for the truck also. I don't have the time to just wait for it to heat up.

OEM is good for short distance. If you can look out your home or work window and know it has started.
Aftermarket will start much further away and will signal your phone or remote to let you know it actually started, with out seeing the truck.

The one viper system is like that. I just feel so many of the are hack jobs to put in. I also have never seen one last more then 4 years.

If I have to I will but would like oem.

I hope your wrong. I'm on my fourth year with the viper system in my civic. And I use mine all year round summer n winter.

Viper actually has 3 models that lets uk if the car is started. They have 2 models that are are $300 or less and performs better then oem. Most of their units can add smart with phone. And it's very rare do I ever see anyone Have a remote start that performs better then viper.

Viper is the best aftermarket for sure. That is what I will go with if toyota doesn't have one by the time I see snow.

I do like the fact can start it with an app.

I don't think this is true in modern vehicles like it used to be. I think my '05 manual actually says specifically not to wait for warm up before driving. I'd have to go look to see the exact wording though.

I always warm up my engine to atleast 1/4 up before I start driving.

You're just wasting gas doing that. The motor will warm up more quickly and effectively if you drive it moderately the first few minutes.

It's not just for the engine. It's for all the components also. Like the water pump power steering alt etc. It's no secret that metal contracts when cold and components clearances are tighter.

Plus I also hate getting into a cold car. Hence why I got the seat heaters also.

Right. I like the engine and cab warm/cool when I get in it. Just hop in and drive instantly and the engine is at optimum temp.

I'm getting a Compustar 703 installed aftermarket... around $500 CAD installed with warranty with a 3000ft range and 2 way remote that tells me when the truck is on or not

Wish I could have gotten vented seats and heated steering wheel also.

Sorry, that post made me chuckle. Remote start gives the truck instant warm up? :) Still have to wait for it to warm after is starts... just dont have to go outside to start it. ( a full minute or two of time)

I too love remote starts living in the snow belt. :)

It would take no additional parts for them to include factory remote start. The truck has all the necessary components being as it has push button start. All they would have had to do was add a button to the fob
