Don't stress over the auto set, it's a useless marketing gimmick. Hobarts are good machines that are built along the lines of millers.

Whatever one you decide on, I have some scrap you can just have to play with and learn on. I will not be moving my wood/metal stock so it would just go to waste or fetch a few dollars from the scrap yard. I could, or someone could bring it to the Nov 15th lunch if you're down this way.

I have the hobart stuff (Amazon) and no issues so far. I will recommend a tank, much cleaner welds if your going the mig route.

If alfuh doesnt want it, the offer is open to anyone in the area.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
I have the Hobart 187, basically the same as their 190 now. It's been a great machine to learn on and so far (knock on wood) nothing has fallen off my 4runner and I welded every bit of suspension.

I remember getting a really good deal from Tractor supply when I bought it.

Ya I'll go ahead and take it, I'm gonna try and make my way out there. I don't know too much about the gasses that are used with MIGs but I did see that a tank was something to get. I'll have to look into that more

Good to know lol, ya I just started looking into everything again and I may just use my tax returns on picking up a welder setup

See if you can find an airgas or the sort near you. My local gas supply has an exchange program, I buy the bottle from them then just exchange for a new one when I need a fill.

    You'll need 75/25. 75% argon and 25% CO2

Can a 305/55/r20 tire fit on a 4" lift without having to do the cab mount chop? It comes out to a 33.21" tire.

That depends on the offset and backspacing of your wheels. I have 315/75r16s with 4.5" BS, 0 offset, maxtracs, and 2" wheel spacers and I have barely any rubbing on my cab mount. I'm also somewhere near 4-5" of lift up front for suspension...but I don't know exactly lol

Alright, Well the rims I'm looking at are 20x10 with 4.56 backspacing and -24mm offset. I already have 1.25" wheel spacers. I'm just trying to decide which is better, a 285/55 (32.3) or a 305/55 (33.2).

^^^this & with a -24 offset you may not rub the cab mounts but you may rub the fender flares especially if you keep the spacers. Actually mine are -12 with 35x12.50 with a 6" lift & I rub the cab mounts at full lock, I also had to trim the wheel well liner in front.

Do you think it would be better to go with a 285/55 then? I want a bigger tire to fill the gap but I don't want it to rub all the time.

Like said above you might rub a lil on the fender flares. I def wouldn't run the spacers with those wheels as they won't be needed since it will give you 4.5 bs. I ran a a 285/65r18 on a 18 x 10 wheels w -24 but I was also at 5.75 in front and no rubbing at all.

Ya I'm only running spacers to get the LT stance lol......I'm wannabe LT haha. Once I get the money I'm getting a 3.5" LT system from TC or Camburg. I'm just surprised how little, I mean no, trimming I did for the 35s, i barely rub at full lock.

It's only about a half inch difference between the sizes you're considering so I'd say either way. I believe that -24 will give you more problems. The more you push it out the closer it will be to the cab mount when turned.
Hugopreston has 285's with 4" lift, he only rubbed on the mud flaps & after he removed them reported no more rubbing. I just don't know the specs for his wheels.
