I have two issues with my Entune & Android (Moto X 2014) Bluetooth connection:

    1) Entune won't read text message beyond the first couple after pairing. When I first pair the phone and receive a text, "Read" is an option and works fine. After those first couple, "Read" is grayed out and "Ignore" is the only selectable option when I receive a new text.

    2) Sometimes when I turn the truck off while playing something from the phone (Google Play Music or Pocket Casts) the play button on Entune will not make the phone play when I turn the truck back on, even though it will have the correct current track displayed with Play as a selectable option. I have to hit play from the phone to get it going again, and then the controls will work fine from there.

Anyone else have these issues, and/or any thoughts to share on then? Hopefully they get fixed with an update soon.

Have you tried to unpair and re-pair your device?

yes, a few times. like i said, it always works for the first/first couple text messages, then stops. the play button thing persists regardless of un/re-pairing.

It sounds like you may be running into an incompatibility between the implementations of bluetooth on the radio and on your smartphone. To verify whether or not this is the case it might be worthwhile to try associating a different brand/model smartphone with the radio to see if the symptom changes or stays the same.

On my 2013 Moto X running the Moto Assist functions interferes with usability in my wife's 2010 Prius. Disabling the app fixed it for me.

you mean like active display notifications? that would suck, as that was a huge selling point for the phone for me.

Moto Assist is the Moto specific app that will do things like turn off the ringer at night, speak the caller name of incoming calls while driving, or switch to vibrate when you have a meeting on your calendar among other things. Disabling it is what worked for me.

thanks, I'm gonna try it next time I get in the car. on the 2014 there is no way to disable only Moto assist, but I have disabled the Moto app and we'll see if that does the trick. the notifications still seem to work with it disabled, so if it works, I'll be all set.

I have one bug for sure. iPhone 6 running latest iOS, if that matters. I leave my bluetooth on, on the phone, get into the truck and it does discover the phone and everything is fine, except in relation to messages.

It will notify my a message has coming but can't read it. I hit the message App and it wants to set up that feature. Which when selected will not ever "find" the phone, simply because it already has found it.

So the fix is every single time I am getting into the truck I have to simply turn my bluetooth off then select the message app and then turn the bluetooth back on, on my phone, and it starts working properly.

It's a pain in the ass because if you are running around and in and out of the truck I have to do this every time the truck is turned off and on again.

I have the exact same issue. Everything seems to work fine between the head unit and the phone except for the messages app on the truck. Acts like it has never been set up every time.

Yep, just do that trick for now. Took me a bit to figure out why and what to do to fix it, but again, that's just for now. I am sure an update will solve the issue in the future I hope.

Anyone see a place where we can check the what the most current software version is for these units? I cans see where we can check it and possible update it via USB in the dash settings.

Android sucks dude. Tried them all including the Windows phone. Apple stuff just works. IMO.

With the iPhone when I paired up the BT I had to turn on an option to show notifications. Even though it detected I still had to initially manually select that on the iPhone under the BT link "Tacoma".

Every time I go to messages it just says message list could not be loaded. Have yet to get it to work at all.

Not sure if it helps but someone mentioned that if you have a lot of old messages on your phone it won't load any. Probably having trouble parsing the messages once it exceeds some arbitrary number.

There should be a link on Toyota's website to check and see if your phone is compatible with Entune or not. Since Toyota has decide not to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto you are stuck with Entune.
