I appreciate your input and advice and it was very helpful, right up until you decided to make those last uncalled for remarks.

why would you think its ok to tell someone what they should do to their own trucks? do I go around posting that your truck is ghetto fabulous?

I want to know what is ghetto fabulous about buying a lowering spring made and designed for my truck? if that is ghetto fabulous then so is every single lift kit and suspension upgrade ever sold.

there are many guys here (not directed at you) who go out of their way to post simply to criticize anyone wanting to lower a truck or remove a lift kit, yet these same guys are at the same time posting in other threads all in favor of doing any sort of over the top extreme lift on a truck just for the hell of it, no matter how stupidly ridiculously high it would be after.

not everyone wants a monster truck you know.

i'll give you, that cutting the coil would be "rigging" it, but its something mechanics have been doing with great success for 40 years and was the accepted way to do it before specialized companies started making "kits" to alter suspensions.

when you have to do things on a very tight budget, you don't just throw money at things without at least exploring if there is another way to do it or if there are cheaper options first. by doing this very thing, I found out if I don't want or cant afford to buy a $500 kit to redo the entire front end, then all I really need is a $160 set of shorter strut springs as an alternative lowering kit that serves the same function as a lowering spindle would.

buying the shorter strut spring is no more "ghetto" then buying a lift kit for it, they are both parts made and designed to change the suspension height.

and for the record, I said "not directed at you", in case that is still not clear, that means that comment about lifted trucks was not about you or your truck or directed at you

What is this blasphemy you speak of lowering a tacoma that's unheard of.

It's your truck, but I do think the ride quality would be best with a kit. I myself would go with tundra racing, and I plan to soon

I am interested in why you feel this way? the tundra racing is also a kit and it relocates and takes apart just about everything in the front end, the shorter strut spring is a small kit that is just replacing the strut spring only with no other modifications made to anything else.

I would also be interested in rock lobsters views on the differences in the two different "kits" that both claim to lower the truck and why he feels one might be better then the other, that's if he still cares to share his opinion here.

I prefer to learn "what" I am doing to add a kit, and "why" I am doing it, rather then just buy a kit and throw it on blindly.

before I do things, they need to make sense to me so I am a person who likes to ask a lot of questions so I fully understand all the reasons for everything I do before I do anything.

if I have to spend money to do it right then I will, but I want to make sure I truly do need to spend that money to do it right.

I wish there was a video showing the tundra kit install so I could better understand everything the kit does and why

You want a lowered truck that sits on a 4x4 suspension for the most part. You're complaining about someone who suggested trading in the prerunner and purchasing a 5 lug that would be easier to modify. Don't forget you got all wound up when someone mentioned purchasing a lowering kit that is intended for lowering a truck. Considering you're wanting to take the easiest way out, go ahead and start hacking around. Just don't come bitching when shit doesn't work the way you thought it out

Doesn't matter which one you are trying to accomplish. There is a right way to accomplish a lowering job. Chopping springs or slapping cheap eBay parts in there is going to come back and bite you in the ass. Trust me. If you want the job done right, place money into a quality kit that will hold up to the wear and tear. Not exactly understanding your reasoning for lowering it only 2". What benefits is it really going to provide you besides cosmetics? Or are you 4'11"? :D

no, not even close, I just want it 2" lower, if I had a base model then I would be looking for a lift kit.

because that's a stupid suggestion to buy another truck rather then buy a lowering kit. did you go buy another truck rather then buy a lift kit for your trucks? what I was complaining about was the limited options for lowering kits for prerunners

yes I was not happy about the high cost of the kit, weather that cost is justified or not, that was all I complained about.

I already stated i understood the risk of doing it and all I would be risking is ruining the springs im cutting so why would I be bitching about something I already know

seams the ones getting bent out of shape in this thread are those that cringe at the idea of lowering a truck even if its just by an inch or two.
