He is saying push button starts don't belong in trucks and the radio will fit under a front seat.

CB (Citizen's Band) is dying pretty quickly but you would be surprised how many people still rely on 2-way radio, Ham radio, HEAR radio. It's still a pretty important, reliable technology. Hospitals, Law enforcement, transportation, and aviation come to mind that rely pretty heavily on RF

 

None of the technologies introduced on the 3rd gen Taco is actually new for Toyota. Push-button start has been available on the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, and Prado for half a decade, and available on Lexus models another half a decade before.

 

I understand this....but i only see it being necessary in the limited trim.

 

^The Limited trim might sell well. The buying demographics isn't what it used to be 10 years ago. Double cabs account for some ~65% of sales - more and more buyers are using Tacos like SUVs.

I don't care for push button start (having to press the brake pedal to start the vehicle is a nuisance) and wouldn't pay extra for it, but I don't hate it.

 

CBs are super handy when you go on wheeling trips with a group.

 

Not CB, but looking for a place for the 2m ham, and really there is nothing for a traditional integrated radio unit. The console is too small even (for the YAESU FT-2900R). A detachable face radio where all but the face can be located under the seat looks like the way to go.

Also all these push button start nonsense is not relavent to me because I dont drive a problematic(automatic ). I was considering putting it under the seat, but I'd like to have the ability to change channels on the go.

 

I can't believe how much winning there is on 3rd gen threads. If you are going to make a post on here make it without bitching about the choice you made. You just bought a 34k + truck and if you plan on wheeling that shit then finding a spot to mount a cb should be the least of your worries. I understand the need for cb and ham radio's as when deep in the woods there is no cell phone reception. But do like all of the rest of us and fucking get creative. Without creativity TW would be just a bitch season.

 

The gen 2 didn't either, I bought one that had the CB in the talkie. There was never a good place for the antenna either

 

Of course there is going to be a lot of winning. The 3rd gen rocks. This isn't so much a whining thread as it is a way to get ideas. Believe me, I've done a lot of googling. Seems like the 1st gens had the most mount ability, 2nd gens have some reasonable mounting options if you do some mods, like getting a double din conversion. I've looked at endless pics of tacoma cb installs but the 3rd gen is still pretty limited. I think a small CB might be the best option for people looking to get into it as my cobra 125 barely fits in the armrest and glovebox but I'm not going to waste money on getting a lower quality CB because I believe a way will be found! Also I did not buy a 34k+ truck. By the end I may put 10k into the truck to bring it up to your 34k+ quote, but I assure you that at that point there will definitely not be any whining because it would be a much more capable off roader.
