I'm looking into getting a satoshi color-matched grille, and to go along with that, I want to get rid of the chrome rear bumper. I wanted to know if I should either paint the bumper on my own or sell it and buy a new color-matched bumper.

I bought a primed bumper for $180 some on eBay last week. It is supposed to be here tomorrow. My brother does auto body so the labor is free. Bumpers are ridiculously expensive at list price. I will let you know about the bumper I receive. Hoping it fits right. I too am getting rid of the chrome

I thought I was pissing money away! Then again I'm thinking of filling the back side of the rear bumper with cement! I'm not sure whether it's even chrome or it's just black!

Did it come with all the plastic parts?

I agree with dcsbtaco. There's a bunch of people on here who've swapped out their oem color matched bumpers for aftermarket offroad bumpers.
Someone is bound to have their oem bumpers taking up space in their garage and willing to part with it.

I've been thinking of doing this for a while, and priced out the primed bumper, which for a new bumper isn't bad. Once I started pricing out all the associated plastic parts (which I would probably need since I have an '05 and I don't know how that stuff would survive a full transplant. I imagine a lot of that stuff has grown brittle over the years), It comes out to ~$1000 including the painting process, which I could never justify.

I think I'll try that route. My choices may be limited though, I think they swapped from Black Sand Pearl to Black in '09.

    Thanks for the intel.

You could look for someone maybe to swap or check with an auto recycler for a rear bumper!

How do you think the truck would look with a color matched grille and bumper but with chrome wheels. Do you think the chrome would look out of place?

In response to the chrome question, yes, it would look bad, IMO. Have the wheels powder coated. I had mine done in anthracite and love them.
