    Absolutely! I have an APM based aerial mapping aircraft and a PixHawk mapping plane. Great system for full autonomy. For FPV I prefer the Eagle Tree Vector flight controller.

    Just the 3DR modems. Im using a Dymond high gain whip on the ground, and a Dragonlink dipole on the airplane. Ive yet to go below 80% RSSI at 2 miles distance. Standard 2.4ghz transmitter for aircraft control. I have it setup to just continue the mission if I drop 2.4 radio, which happens at around 1 mile. But since Im mapping with these rigs, The only hand flying I do is takeoff and landing.
