:puke: Just saw it. Bright neon green. I could do the orange, even liked it, but not the green. Doesn't seem to be anything amazing. Looks like exactly what tepui did except they added LED lighting and a shoe holder sewn in. O, and its the same tent they have always had. I am waiting for the day someone designs a new tent instead of just changing the color and adding a few parts in shop.

    I'd keep what you have.

Speaking of rtt's how do those of you that have them like them. I've been trying to balance the costs and pros/cons of one. It seems like a much easier setup than your standard camping setup. Setup and tear down is my least favorite part, and sometimes limits the amount of camping we end up doing. I'm starting to think we'd end up going on more overnight adventures if I bought a rtt.

If you wheel your rig and like having a designated camping spot... They suck.

I mean they're awesome to have and definitely better than ground tents. Plenty of room , takes 5 minutes to open up, and being up off the ground is always nice. Really hard to hate on em for the price.

But my problem was that ,after the 3rd wheeling trip, I discovered that having to wait till after night wheeling was over to set up camp then pack camp again in the morning to go wheel again sucked. Badly. Then if your rig breaks on the trail, your tent is stuck there too lol.

Overall, I loved mine and would get another one but only if I had a trailer to put it on so I didn't have to pack up camp 6 times in one weekend of wheeling lol!

I suppose thats a point if you come back to the same camp site every night. But if that was the case a ground tent is far more worthwhile for price and variety.

But if moving sites every day/night then it really isnt more of a hassle than a ground tent. Even easy pop up ground tents take a minute to setup, add in airing up a matress, grabbing bedding, and finding a flat spot to set up. It can be a hassle even for a ground tent where the rtt is self contained.

After spending a week with a few of the guys in here and seeing their rtt vs my ground tent, the rtt is far superior for that kind of wheeling/overland setup. Even just setting mine up in the street i can see its far nicer and more comfortable with ease of setup.

I guess that's something I never thought of having to take it down anytime you were going to take the pickup anywhere.
I kinda think it might be fun to be able to pick different spots depending on where you ended up that evening.

Yeah, it will depend on how you personally camp. I liked it, even miss it at times , but I am glad I sold it and went a different route. The majority of people love them and it fits their needs perfectly. RTTs are incredibly comfortable and make camping a lot more enjoyable for old bones, non campers, and lonnnng trips.

Things I truly liked about the RTT
    • Off the ground
    • ease of set up on all terrain
    • leaving sleeping bags inside, ready to go
    • Comfort
What I absolutely hated about it (I will explain these since they may or may not apply to how you camp)
    • Size (it's an extremely bulky for the size of the tent and I had to keep it on my truck 24/7 because I had no where to store it without it getting in the way)
    • Can't move the truck once camp is set (I like to set camp and then explore, gather fire wood, fish etc. This meant I was either walking or packing up camp)
    • VERY loud in the wind. Seriously, have ear plugs on standby (Yeah, you can park where there is no wind...but I live in laramie and there is no hiding from it.)
    • Site selection. (yep, finding a big enough spot, that is private, relatively level and you can drive a truck to can be harder than it seems. Wherever you can set up an RTT, I can set up my tent, but you cannot set up an RTT anywhere I can set up the tent)
    • Winter (During snow storms snow will blow inside the tent where the hinges are. I don't do a lot of winter camping, but when I do it sucks to wake up covered in snow )
There are more positives and negatives to list but that's just a few that came to mind. One thing to keep in mind is that depending on who you camp with, your experience may vary. For example, if everyone has RTT's it will seem if they are gods gift to campers but if you are with a group of people with light weight ground tents, you will see how cumbersome they can be. In a perfect world I would have one of everything but the world isn't perfect and I need a tent to do more than just car camping.

I have a really cool idea for truck camping based off my experience with RTT, my tipi, and some ice fishing huts but not sure if I could pull it off. It would be a super simple shelter and rather cheap too. The hardest part would be sewing the fabric.
