Then the grass turns into gorgeous mountains and crystal clear lakes.

Talking my wife and kid into moving to the Yukon will be.... a challenge.

It does come at a cost, -40 and long hours of darkness in the winter, short summers but I do enjoy it up here.

Pretty much. Hunker down spend time with my wife, watch movies, do other hobbies etc... dream of spring. I grew up here so its not that big of a deal. I find the extreme hot more difficult, I can always put on more layers, I can only get so naked.

This! I was raised in Phoenix. Live in Montana now. Cold > Hot

When it is cold you bundle up. When it is hot and you get naked you are just sweaty and being arrested.

Foggy early, then drizzle rain, now sun's out. Pictures are early AM. (Went fishing for a while) Currently working in the garage, cleaning out an all metal tool box that fits snug between the fender wells. Only problem is I wish it was deeper. (12") BUT, I got it. It's built like the proverbial brick shit house. I need a tool box. Gonna bead blast it, prime, then plastidip the daylights out of it..

Hope is the 'derp finish won't slide on the bed mat. Gonna try it for a few days BEFORE making it a permanent feature.

Contents to be; Recovery kit, fire extinguisher, small axe, machete, couple Army entrenching tools, and a tool bag. It'll get fastened down before any of that goes in.

Yes indeed it is!!! That's the highway side of where I took my photo's, I was on the other side of the lake. Old Inn I think it's up for sale, as with most of the Alaska (Alcan highway) so many of the old gas stations/inns etc... are closed, abandoned a result of the highway upgrades, and more fuel efficient vehicles.

When my folks moved here in 1976 the entire highway was still gravel, the only paved street was main street Whitehorse, it also had the only stop light, hard to imagine. Beautiful area around Kluane Lake, but a long haul from Texas

    Cheers

I'll never forget Whitehorse. Long story short - I was driving back home from the AK/ CAN border just outside Beaver Creek. It was my first night by myself after touring for 2.5mos. Went to some internet cafe and e-mailed my ex saying I was headed home. Didn't have money for a hotel...or at least, didn't want to spend it yet. Parked in a church parking lot...same church we crashed in heading the other way...believe it was on the east side of the highway. Slept in my truck. Long night. That began a stretch of 6 days sleeping in the cab of my truck. Beautiful country up there. Unreal.
