Yeah I noticed that one. They always meet for dinners down by Cincy. Been wanting to check some of those out. Most of it is still a heck of a trip at 5-6 hours away :(

    I miss day-tripping places

@outdoorwhore feel free to take a look at the bike if you want to waste your time on it but I officially give up. I have no clue what I am doing and am likely doing more harm than good. Fuck this money pit.

I know a little more than that thanks, had the crank case open and fucked with the decompressor to no avail. I cannot get this bike to kick and I don't fucking know why and I'm infuriated and getting on for 2thousand dollars poorer for my troubles.

Lol. I'm just busting your balls. Now that Mark doesn't have a Xturd anymore I have to come back to you. I've been around enough 2 stroke karts to know a few things. What's the issue?

My 4stroke Xr500 has been sitting for a couple years and at this point I cannot get it to kick. The kick lever will not move it, I cannot get the flywheel to rotate, I have no fucking clue what to do to get it running. It's honestly my fault, I left it sitting for a year before picking it up and trying to start it again. Basically, I picked it up and drove it across country and assumed the oil I had put in it before storing it would still be there (drain plug had rattled loose and oil ran out) and after kicking it a couple dozen times (could hear compression just fine) it suddenly wouldn't kick any more. I thought perhaps it had seized (once I realized the oil had leaked out) and so I poured penetrating fluid in the spark hole and waited for it to run through the engine into the crankcase. Even after the fluid penetrated the engine I still can't get it to kick. I had the crankcase open trying to see if something was stuck in the dog gears... couldn't see anything wrong. I wish I had a better understanding of how to work on this F-ing thing. Any advice is appreciated.

Are you sure the pilot bearings and all that stuff are aligned and connected to the flywheel itself? I'm sure that set up is similar to a car

I was trying to turn the flywheel about an hour ago but couldn't get it to budge.. wanted to align the markings and adjust decompressor etc. but without being able to move the flywheel I don't know what to do...

I think I'll more likely than not just sit on it for a couple years and when I have some time to really lay into it I'll spend the money on new everything and turn it back into a fucking gem of a bike. Probably take 100 hours but it'll be worth it. At the very least, it can be a skeleton in my yard.
