Its not going to be more expensive than TRD OR or TRD Sport. And look how many people buy those despite both are poser mods.
Atlas when you spend money on Diesel you get like 600 mile range on fuel tank which is significant if you like going to places that do not have gas stations every 5 minutes.

Why wouldn't it be more expensive and the distance thing doesn't real hold weight for 99% of drivers who travel in the lower 48.

Oh Really. Put your truck in 4L and see how far you get.
600 mile range on highway for Diesel vs 300 mile for gas engine means 100 miles in 4x4 L for Diesel vs 50 miles of 4x4L with gas engine when you offloading. Not to mention You will idle diesel longer than any gas engine if you need too because you digging itself out.

    How about Towing ?
There are million reasons why its better. Those who had one know them.

First off, why would you buy a diesel to strictly off-road? Unless you're trying to compensate for something, the diesel market is mainly aimed at the work industry. Sure you have individuals who drive diesels for the hell of it, but there isn't really a point in that for the majority of people. It's like grandma needing a PC. Sure she could run battlefield 4 on ultra with a gaming PC, but is she going to make use of that when she only needs to check her Facebook? Probably not. The same goes with diesel. Not everyone understands how they operate, so the average joe could have a hard time reeking the benefits of a diesel.

Except all your points are stupid and incorrect.
    • You have to lie even going as far as creating a special algorithm to cheat the system on top of adding emissions crap to get them to pass as "clean" - Its VW, they did not have too but they did because they are VW. They could installed the same system Toyota installs in Europe and they would pass it with out issue.
    • They cost more to purchase - Yeah so is Land Cruiser. Engine has to be build stronger. You are paying for toughness if you don't like it buy KIA.
    • They cost more to repair - Like what Parts? Yeah you need to buy better quality parts, again they cost more so parts to LC.
    • They cost more to maintain - Really like what ? They have no spark plugs and very simple design. Except OIL change not much to maintain there. Glow plugs are pretty much life of the car.

Well have you try asking US army the same question , why all their vehicles are Diesels ? I am mean crap, those HUMVEes if they had V12 Gas engines I am sure would perform much better right ? Right,

Diesels may not have much maintainence at the beginning of their life's, but everyone I know who has one over 100k says they can work you to death. They're all the time performing maintaince on them. Sure they'll go well over the 500k mark, but it isn't as simple as you're claiming it to be.

Where in the hell did you pull that info from? We're talking about domestic use in the American market. Who spends $40-$60k on a diesel and takes it off-road?

Not sure what you arguing here than. There are no midsize diesels in US to take for off-roading so obviously nobody takes them, but if you wonder who takes diesel off-roading answer is a lot of people
Well can your full-size pull 31-36 MPG ? and have 600+ mile range on 21 gallon tank ?
Can Full-size fit on tight trail ?
There is advantage, better parts are better parts. If I can buy 9.5" axle with Elocker I would rather do this thant pay less and install 8 " locker.
Because ....I would rather not have broken axle in middle of nowhere.
You can install hockey puck lift yet people spend more on better ones.
Not sure were you getting this about oil changes, most diesels are 15 000 miles and the amount of oil is the same if not less.
The reason why Diesels can have such crazy intervals is because Diesel oil can have more additives especially Zinc.
Gasolines engine can only use oils with low Zinc because cat converters. Juts that simple fact will extend Diesel engine life.
All your points are invalid, clearly you never own one and you have no actually knowledge about maintenance or what it means to own one.
Thats why this conversations about Diesel are always the same, people who never own one, never driven one or knew guy that knew guy. The fact is if you owned couple diesels (VW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Toyota)
There is a Hilux with a diesel engine park in my house in Europe. So Tell me what do you think in your expert opinion I have to do more than I do on my 2Gen to keep it running.
    :D
Geez some of you need to get out more.

I wouldn't buy a diesel Tacoma. Diesels are no longer cost effective and they're strangled by the current pollution controls. What's the payback mileage for a diesel? something like 150,000 miles.

I don't plan on getting a diesel, however, if they finally add a flux capacitor and a Mr. Fusion I would get it. You would also see some serious shit and be mad jelly.

The website is definately bogus. Whois database shows it's registered in Panama.
