To me that is a sign that Toyota will try to phase out the Access cab soon if not a little later.

Not sure why you think that is a good idea. To me, The Access cab looks like an actual pickup truck. The double cab looks like an SUV that was cut in half and and then had a bed bolted onto what was left.

The truck looks sick with double cab. If you don't need the extra seating, they fold down and its just a great place to store your things. Since you have the option of having the long bed on a double cab, it inconveniences no one to get rid of the access cab. I don't care which of the two someone buys, I just love tacos in almost any form. BUT, to answer your question in short: There are no advantages to having only access cab and many advantages to having double.

In my situation , I am not interested in paying more for an extra seat that I don't need. The DBLB does not come with a Manual transmission and I prefer the look of the Access cab more than the double version.

my god you folks nit pick. if your so picky go get a domestic :)

if you don't like what Toyota offers, I imagine the domestic will be more than happy to give you every little pet peeve you want so you don't have to complain :)

Hey, if you like the look then there ya go… reason enough to keep em in production. Plenty of people do. Obviously they would be available with a manual tranny if they did away with the access cab because they would need to offer it regardless.

    You have it backwards!
Access cab is faster and handles better and hauls more in the box!

Yes, we all bought Tacomas for their incredible speed off the line and superior cornering...

I actually totally disagree. I need the bed space from the long bed but park almost exclusively in a city where physical space is very limited. The extra 13.5" makes a big difference when you are trying to put it someplace tight. I just spent the whole morning running fence with my truck and running it through all sorts of tight spaces between trees and fence posts and whatnot and I like having a truck that fits. I would really like to have the interior space but I need the smaller truck with the larger bed more than I need the interior room.

Meanwhile, it really chaps my ass that I have to mod a $32K truck to get some freaking LEDs to light up the bed when it probably would have actually been cheaper for Toyota to include them on everything since it would mean there was only one part for the panel that the switch goes in and only one part for the light unit and wiring harness section to the light unit...
