Good morning, and that is great news Tim!!

Hard to believe that last week when I replied on here I was in the heart of moose and wolf country. And had 4G on the phone they just put a tower in at Isabella. Soon no place will be safe and will not have to use a sat link any more

Never did get any woodcock but have my possession limit of 10 ruffies. Time to start eating them so I can get the dog and I back out in the woods.

Good morning! And happy belated and early Birthdays.

LOL a bit of truth to that. The Toller is notorious for it's favorite radio station being WIFM, Whats in it For Me. But I like my dogs and women both to be a little bit naughty.

After running close to 20 miles and tasting feathers & blood at the end of the day it helps take some of the sass out of him. And makes him a happy camper!

Howdy! I'm in vacation recovery mode. I took 10 days off and now I pay.....Upon returning to work, I find very little evidence that my crew did what I left for them to do....So now it's hurry up/catch up time. Joy.

Oh well.....At least there was some off road adventure in that 10 days. Got to work on the truck, spend some time on the trails, and catch up on time with my wife and our pets (3 dogs/5 birds)

Good morning! Taking the day off from work to get things ready for winter around the house and yard. Was supposed to leave this morning for my annual SD pheasant hunt with a small group of other retired military guys but can't make it this year. Hard to get motivated to get the snowblower ready but the time is coming sooner than later.

I had to miss a desert outing because I had to get the house ready for the rain. Fun times.

And a good evening to everyone also! Hope everyone had a good day. I never even saw my snowblower today :( My youngest son is very sick, main reason I didn't make it to SD phez hunting this year, and he has been since January. I spent most of the day on the phone trying to get insurance reimbursement straight. The system is broke, no doubt about it. And I am part of the system, or at least sucked into it.... I think we are headed in the right direction though, time will tell.

Just finished cooking 1.5" thick bone in pork chops on the Weber, and of course eating some. For years have done nothing but charcoal but a few months ago got a Weber Genesis and am sold. Brined them for several hours and then seared and slid them to indirect heat to finish. Took almost 2 hours but well worth it! And have plenty of leftovers

    Best wishes for your son.

Bird hunting hasn't even crossed my mind yet. Been real warm here and the deer ticks have been brutal. And that's after the real cold Winter last year.

Every time I step into the woods with the bow, I end up with a couple of ticks crawling around.

Good morning and thank you all for the well wishes! Ticks, damn I hate the little bastages. Gets down into the 20's below zero here in the winter but doesn't seem to make a difference. I've had them crawling on me with snow on the ground they are hard to kill. One reason I like going 300 miles North to hunt is they haven't made it that far North yet.

I used to live to archery hunt deer, well up until a few years ago. Pope and Young HQ and museum is about 20 miles from my house I finally made it there this summer after being up here 15 years. The curator and I talked quite a bit and I still have my Darton MX50, the first 50% compound bow made but they didn't have any on the wall of historical bows. He asked if I would like to donate it but I'm kind of torn about it. Up until a few years ago had a 60 yard archery range along side the house with pro target butts. P&Y moved here from Seattle a long time ago because of the number of record whitetails and I've seen 140+ class bucks 20 yards from my deck. It does get the blood flowing I have to admit.

Art Young is wearing my boots! Russel Moccasin made both of them, only difference is the modern soles on mine.

Isn't it amazing that we used to shoot so many deer before tree stands, camo clothing, scent lok, rubber boots and sprays?!

Wool for the win! I only wish I could still fit into my Pendelton and Woolrich (pre China) from 30 years ago. Must be that closet shrinkage thing I've heard talk of... Actually I'm close and still have most of it and plan it get back into it soon.

Was just out on the deck a little while ago looking to take a picture of a hawk that is taking out song birds on my feeders. After standing there for a few minutes saw a little movement and took awhile but eventually made out a bedded doe across the ravine. Be nice if it was a monster buck but I still get a kick out of seeing bedded deer. And still can! I don't mind shooting them with the camera any more either. 300mm lens with a 1.4tc uncropped. 30 yard pin would be a perfect shot but need to take the pruning saw out and make some shooting lanes first if that was the case!
