What should be interesting is that all of the vehicles listed are not made by the ''big 3'' save for the Mazda Tribute which is basically just a rebadged Escape. Even the Koreans beat out the big 3.

[I will say my 1998 Buick Regal was one of the most dependable vehicles I ever owned, foreign or domestic. Just sold it this year and it really only ever had the most basic maintenance done on it, actual failed parts were one hose, the flex connector on the exhaust, and one brake line. [rusted]

A little of this and a little of that.
I kept my '98 first gen. Tacoma for 13 years. My 2011 second gen. Tacoma will most likely be with me 10+ years.

I've never owned a daily driver for less than 10 years and as you can see by my sig it's only the last 2 that are japanese and the Tacoma was built in california and the Civic in England. I also seldom buy a vehicle till it is already 10 years old.

    This...

People use cars and trucks differently. A large percentage of truck owners will beat the crap out of their truck for a couple years and then replace it due to work. 10year old work trucks aren't good for business unless you're in the hood.

When I was a self employed builder, I bought a new truck every year. When you are the owner of a construction company, the truck is no different then any tool or piece or equipment.

Seems a bit frivolous to buy tools and equipment every year, but then again I don't know the scale of your operation.

Didn't say I bought tools and equipment every year. (But I guess it could read that way)
I was making the analogy that the truck is just a tool, not a cherished garage queen.

It because most people who can afford nicer trucks, even tacomas can afford to upgrade and don't need to keep their vehicles longer than 10 years!

I think a better survey would be how long the vehicles are on the road

Going through the list, I noticed that the Tacoma is #26 out of a total of 39 on the list.

Also noticed that #1 through #25 are not trucks, so the way I see it, the Tacoma is doing quite well according to the link in the opening post.

As mentioned already - there are trucks used daily for REAL work and then there are the pavement princess varieties. It ain't a mystery which one will generally last longer.

That data is... irrelevant. Because it only shows what people *have* done, not what you *could* do. It has more relation to what people WANT rather than what they NEED.

At least it isn't as bad as new car reviews trying to rate new vehicles based on their RELIABILITY. A vehicle's reliability can't be gauged until it is several years old.

Right. The truck used for hard work will last longer, because a pavement princess will be taken out in a car crash due to (a) alcohol consumption, (b) driving like a douche in bad conditions.
