I was about to hate your guts for getting an MR2 before i did, but thats till a super nice fiero, screw engine swaps, just add boost, makes things more fun and it dosent break as much stuff, provided you dont go crazy.

Also, i managed to snag a job with southwest airlines, just waiting on them to send me my start date

I just think its too much work to boost a motor like that when it was never meant to take it.

It no 2JZ, it surely can't handle 800 hp and 15lbs of boost on stock internals lol even that sounds sketchy

yeah, its not like the MR2 with the 4AGE that is an almost perfect copy of a Ford Cosworth BDA Race Engine

a small turbo running similar boost to a supercharger would be great though. If I could get anywhere even close to 200hp, this thing would be a rocket on rails at a track.

a small turbo on the stock engine would yield more power than the V6, less weight than the V6, and better weight distribution than a V8...... hmmm :drevil:

If you're going with forced induction, but want to keep it reliable, rebuild the motor, get forged internals for it, bore it .030", upgrade the fuel system, header, exhaust and once all done, buy a new car haha jk.

That is assuming you want to put some PSI to it, but if you're going to run a small turbo and keep it moderate, I can't image it would be too hard on it.

I don't miss building motors and spending more money than I'd like to admit....

This is why i say boost^ both the MR2 and the fiero are borderline R/R cars with how far back the engines are, so adding a giant v6 or V8 isnt gonna help that, plus IMO its sacrilege to throw away a good engine

yeah, that's what I don't want to do. bought this car so I could build the truck. if I'm neck deep into a car build, I won't have the time or budget to build the truck. when I lived in Houston, I spend a lot of time at Torspd's house, helping with his sleeved/turbo build, or getting assistance from him on my truck. got to see first hand what 90K will get you in a Tacoma build. incredible things happen, but with a 90 grand build, i'll be flying through the air before I fly around a track

exactly. building a drag car, go nuts with a supercharged V8. want to be able to turn, keep the small, robustly build I4, and build it smart.

I think SAS with Dana 60's front and rear, super charged 4.7 V8, 4 link suspension, 37's, 5.30 gears, twin stick atlas crawl box, full tube bed, you know, just the normal stuff that normal people do....

full overhaul. bed and rack are coming off for a tube bed and scratch-built rear long travel. front is going to get an off the shelf long travel and some major reinforcing. and i'll finally get around to lockers and gears.

essentially, I've gotten the truck as far as I can with things that I can complete in a weekend. but with a daily driver, I can toss the truck on jack stands for a few months at a time and really increase it's potential.

sadly that would preclude it from being road worthy, as he wouldn't be able to pass emissions without some ecu trickery

I registered it in Virginia, so being that it's over 25 years old, I no longer have to pass emissions :D

Maryland is a bitch to do anything vehicle related in. between waiting in line, filling out paper work, and talking with the employee, I spent a grand total of 35 minutes in the VA DMV from the time I walked in, to the time I walked out, plates in hand, 100% street legal.

Md. MVA does suck but it's nice that vehicles 25 and older don't require inspection, emissions and the registration/tags are cheaper (only $51 every 2 years). I drove a big block vega race car to work & back 2 or 3 times a week. That car wouldn't be street legal in many states. And Md. only requires that you pay sales tax at the time you title a vehicle into your name. Is it true that in Va. you have to pay property tax every year on registered/titled vehicles, atv's, campers, boats, trailers, ect...? That would suck for me because i have many vehicles registered/tagged and 2 campers.

yes, that's the downfall for registering in VA, you do have a yearly property tax on anything with a license plate. that's why my truck isn't registered in VA. not a fan of throwing away $400 a year to the state just to have a plate that says VA on it. I pay a whopping $3.50 each year for my trailer tags, and then this car will likely have a yearly tax of less than $10, so it's not a big deal.

I'm pretty sure Maryland is exactly the same in that regard. Anything over 20 years old, I believe is exempt from emissions if you register it Historic.

Also, we don't have yearly inspections like PA and DE, so it's not that bad here compared to some places around us.
