I did the gauge cluster blue and I ordered the Neo wedge 4mm HVAC bulbs in blue but isn't there orange paint behind it so you either have to scratch all the orange off since I'm using blue or order a 01-02 4Runner faceplate? Which is what I did today since it doesn't have the orange stuff. What did you do to correct that orange crap behind the HVAC plate?

No I didn't I have a 99 which doesn't have the orange paint behind it. We have sliders and knobs and I think yours is more digital.

The dash will be fine, it doesn't have any paint on it just condoms on the bulbs. The hvac is the one with the paint so if you have the 4runner one you should be fine and not have to scratch any paint off. I hear when people do scratch off the paint they screw it up and you lose your picture when you scratch too deep.

    I bought a 4Runner HVAC out of a 2001 SR5 from eBay :D

The Limiteds have the digital dual-zone climate or w/e that thing is so it doesn't work (or at least I wasn't willing to risk it)

I'm a little confused on this.... I just bought a 2001 Tacoma.... Will mine have the orange paint behind the climate controls?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound stupid. I was under the impression that the climate control either had orange paint or orange covers on the bulbs. Nevermind! That makes sense now.

the climate controls are painted orange behind the plate, bulbs are regular incandescent. the cluster bulbs have the orange condoms on them. same with auto shifter

the difference with the 4Runner HVAC is also the A/C and Recirc buttons are green instead of orange.

So I'm putting blue NEOwedge 4mm bulbs behind the 4Runner HVAC. That shouldn't look too bad with the green A/C & recirc buttons compared to my 04 Tacoma orange right? I'm putting the 4Runner faceplate regardless

But since I'm only installing the HVAC faceplate won't I still have my same AC and recirc buttons from my 04 Tacoma? I'm not changing out the whole thing

Yeah so since I didn't buy the whole unit just the faceplate it will fit backover the AC and recirc buttons when I put it back onto my original HVAC unit. Right?

Can someone pick up an extra 4Runner faceplate and knob set and send it to me? I'm assuming the knobs need to be included since they're orange too?
    I haz PayPal.
